Friends, can someone explain to me which software I need to listen to binaural recordings and where I can download them? I am mostly using Foobar on PC or Picoreplayer on Raspberry PI. Thank you!- gghirardi

RAAL 1995 headphones, Magna and Immanis
I really hope that neither the Magna nor the Immains have any resemblance with the Susvara in terms of openness. Despite the refinment of the Susvara in rendering vocals etc., I recall having a very disappointed reaction when hearing the Susvara after coming from the Sennheiser HD800s. Not quite...- gghirardi

I agree. The Abyss for example is very good but the bass is excessive in comparison to the rest. It is almost "fictional". Nevertheless, trying the SR1A while lying in bed is well worth a try.- gghirardi

Not yet. I must say I use them in the office while working and bringing a pillow and a bed would not be perceived as the right message among our associates... But I am planning to bring them home shortly and give this a try.- gghirardi

I agree. The sr-1A are really something new. And to me they are unbeatable for classical music (especially chamber) and jazz. Although I also have the Abyss TC and the Focal Stellia, the only other HP that gave a similar experience was the Sennheiser HD800s. G- gghirardi

Sure but if you do not have the Ca and want to improve bass on the SR1A that would seem a possible way to go. Also because the mod is not destructive.- gghirardi

My sense is that they sounded too wide and acute to his ears to start with. he is clearly not a SR/1A type of guy. But the idea behind the mod has merits. In fact, if you think about it, it is the same idea conceptually which is at the basis of the CA Model.- gghirardi

I am reposting this here. Has anyone tried this mod on the SR/1A to improve the bass and reduce slightly the highest frequencies? https://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/rhythmdevils-raal-sr-1a-modding-guide.12354/- gghirardi

Interesting. I always wanted to try the mod that consists of adding some pad material on the flaps and the metal grill to increase the bass. See here: https://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/rhythmdevils-raal-sr-1a-modding-guide.12354/ The thing is that I mostly listen to...- gghirardi

Alex, in addition to the Immanis and Magna, can we expect a new version of the SR-1A/B, which I love and find great?- gghirardi

Thanbk you. Did you also change the EL34 Matched Duet Driver/Splitter Tubes or only the EL34 Matched Quartet Output Tubes (and, if so, do the 6 tubes need to be identical)?- gghirardi

Attached is a picture of my broken Star 8 cable. The guy who repaired it said you need to change the solid core entirely when it breaks. Youi cannot simply cut out the broken section. This lies in the nature of a solid core. He also said the lutz cable (which is used in the Star 8) is great, but...- gghirardi
