Thanks for the suggestion. At the end I'll be returning the Empyrean, I'll try to get my hands one of the Verites.- gesperon

...other people. I'd say, Empyrean is not all-round headphone, but more a special headphone. If you like it you will love it, and vice versa. Verite is like Aeolus, but with brighter, cleaner, faster, bigger soundstage and put significantly more definition into sound. Treble wise, Verite has...- TheMiddleSky

They sound different. Someone else can describe the difference better then I. I'll say the better detail with the Verite. What gear are you using? I just paired GS-X mini with the Denafrips Ares 2. This combo makes my Empy's sound amazing. Now Verite sounds awesome with all my setups in any...- Bonddam

I'd narrow down to the Empy and Verite. If it's open office then the VC. From my headphones the VO is my favorite. I also just got the Diana v2 and I'm digging them. The Empy is most comfy, folowed by the Diana then the verite open. The Diana is more low key less chance of being laughed at. Next...- Bonddam

My Verite is well burnt in, no problem with that, burning in the Empyrean more. I see you have both cans.....any preference yet? Yeah for the Empyrean a hybrid model pad would be great, along with a non perforated leather and perforated suede pad. Like I said, they have the easy change system...- mixman

You should try to hear the ZMF Verite — definitely not thin, and very fast. Not reference sig, more W-shaped — I’ve seen it’s described as Japanese tuning. Pretty good impression of Verite w/ metal here: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/zmf-verite.890270/page-53#post-14623942 Maybe very hard...- LCMusicLover

Indeed. I like tube magic:) i would not say meze are completly different to zmf verite. Verite are more detailed and their high impedance works well with tube amps.- bpiotrow13

@SoundJedi thanks for this. Very interesting. The problem with comparing VC and Empys is that they sound different on different pads. Some says Verite are warmer with more treble, some says the opposite. I prefer alcantara pads on Meze, it is warmer and more 3D. In any case Verite and Emeryians...- bpiotrow13

The Verite and the Empy are actually a good pairing. The Verite is better at acoustic instruments and some hard rock, where the Empy is better at EDM, Hip Hop and some Metal. I do miss my Empys.- mixman

When I had Empyrean and Verite , the most contrasting difference was instrument separation and spacing or air between instrument. I found it better in Verite as compared to Empyrean. Also somehow I felt bass or rather sub bass was better in Verite compared to Empyrean. Empyrean definitely has...- kumar402

I think you have to give Verite close to 200hrs of burn in before you do comparison. They both have their strength. However Verite does have bigger soundstage and has air between instruments. Big round cups do help. Also Verite pairs well with full tube amp.- kumar402

...fellow members, I own the Utopia and Ether2 and enjoy them both. They are polar opposites imo, which has lead me to develop interest for the Verite or Empryean. to get to the point_ I was wondering if anyone has heard both and can chime in and give their thoughts on Verite vs Empryean, any...- nvmadamada

Thank you. What was your experience regarding Aeolus, Empyrean and Verite? Since I've owned two of them I'm intrigued if the Verite or Diana might be an option for me. I don't see me spending that kind of cash for a Hifiman, especially since you mentioned a lean sounding characteristic.- DuncanDirkDick

On the Verite pads at least......that strange imaging might be that they are more 3D. Kind of like I prefer the suede pads on the Empy for imaging.- mixman

Had both at the same time and sold the Verite C as the reverb in the Monkey Pod pads was to irritating for me. Still have the Empyreans and now with a Lazuli Reference they are even better.- silversurfer616

They are similar sounding in that they are both warm, relaxing and non fatiguing headphones. The Verite has a natural sound typical of a dynamic and the Empy has that Planar slam. Both very comfortable . Now if you want something totally different then look into something like a Hifiman HEK or...- mixman

On the iCan I didn’t like the Aeolus. They don’t imo compliment the Empryean. Your better at looking at Verite. Current amp now is gsx mini. If you want warm sounding Verite over Aeolus being You are use to the openness of the Empyrean. I sold Aeolus for Verite and am very happy. I’m sure you...- Bonddam

I have bought ZMF Verite open:) It sounds wonderful with OTL amps, but at the same time offers a lot of tube rolling opportunities. Verite sounds well also with Ayon, but Ayon with meze was exceptional match. As i can not afford to stay with that many amps i need to let it go (regretably..).- bpiotrow13

ZMF Verite Closed would be a good contender in my books. I actually recently sold my Meze Empyrean as I never used them in preference to the Verite Closed.- Rowethren
