My experience with this builder could not have been better. He clearly and promptly responded to every inquiry I had. Simply fantastic support. And the finished amplifier was built to an excellent standard. If only buying DIY was always this pleasant!- Valens7

Grado Fan Club!
One benefit of buying the Hemp new is that you can request that Grado remove the badge from the grille. I asked TTVJ if that was something he’d be able to take care of for me and, sure enough, mine arrived without the badge- Valens7

It may be possible that Grado is using a different stock of pads for the Hemp, which they have labeled “F-Cushion”. I’m not sure what, if any, difference there is between them and Deluxe Flat pads but the surface texture of the foam feels a bit softer on TTVJ’s than the Hemp pads. Unfortunately...- Valens7

As it happens, I've done just that. Here are some impressions... In the lows, the Hemp extends a bit further and supplies a solid, impactful bass punch. RS2e has a more tuneful, mid-bass oriented presentation that blends subtly into the midrange. It has decent extension but softens notably on...- Valens7

They do sound substantially different, nearly being the inverse of each other. Hemp has a warmer tone and extends more viscerally into the bass, whereas HF3 is leaner in the lower registers with a more refined presence in the upper mids and an airy treble. As resolution seems broadly equal, I...- Valens7

Grado Fan Club!
I recently snagged a HF3 from @elvergun (excellent seller and helpful guy) on the heels of purchasing a Hemp from TTVJ. So I will be posting some more detailed impressions comparing these two headphones in the near future... My original goal was to compare the HF3 with TTVJ’s Deluxe flat pads...- Valens7

ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread
Technicalities are broadly similar between both the Auteur and Aeolus, with perhaps a modest edge to the former. So you might find that Auteur has a bit more room to scale in a listening rig with favorable synergy. But, price difference aside, choosing between them largely comes down to music...- Valens7

ZMF Aeolus Impressions thread
Not sure if this is the best place to put this but I decided to compare all three ZMF stock cables and gathered some impressions which may be of interest... OG stock cable: I may be wrong but this appears to be made from the same wire that Audeze used previously in its headphone cables. It...- Valens7

Is a Melos still relevant today?
The Bifrost Uber is a good source by all accounts. Feeding the Melos and those headphones, that seems like it’d be a very solid rig to me.- Valens7

Is a Melos still relevant today?
It’s a logical question! Given the way tech advances in many fields, it’d be sensible to consider that the same might be true of personal audio. Mercifully, the “newer is better” principle doesn’t quite hold with headphone amps or with other audio components in general. Good sound is good sound...- Valens7

Is a Melos still relevant today?
I mean, why wouldn’t it be relevant? There’s certainly the possibility that you may not enjoy the Melos as much as during your initial period of ownership, but I don’t see why it wouldn’t be a good option. Particularly if you enjoy a warmer coloration to your music, which I understand the Melos...- Valens7

ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF
The Atticus has far less in the way of palpable air as compared to the TH-X00, and I’d imagine that’s equally true of the TH-900. Appropriate, as those are semi-open headphones. But there’s also less in the way of cup reverb, which is a major contributor to the “closed” sound that I’m...- Valens7

ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF
Easily my favorite thing about the Atticus is how it doesn't sound "closed" as a closed headphone. The Eikon doesn't manage pull off this trick. Even semi-open alternatives, such as the various Fostex models and the Auteur, don't necessarily best the Atticus in this critical aspect. Unique sonic...- Valens7

ZMF Auteur Thread
Feel obliged to issue a correction to this earlier unfounded statement of mine. I did not enjoy the Auteur with the Torpedo III. Not a terrible matchup... but also not particularly compelling. The best ZMF dynamic headphone for use with the T3 was the Atticus, after auditioning all three and...- Valens7

ZMF Auteur Thread
I’ve found the Amperex “A-frame” 6DJ8 with orange globe print to be a notable improvement over the stock EH 6922. Smoother presentation across the board and more detailed mids are benefits. If you enjoy the using the Auteur with an MCTH, I’d recommend the investment in that tube.- Valens7

ATTICUS and EIKON, the new dynamic driver headphones from ZMF
@elira For what it’s worth, my own anecdotal research into ZMF headphones failed to yield a single documented instance of driver failure. And in the brief course of my ownership, I never experienced a driver failure from either the Eikon or Atticus. I mean, it’s entirely possible that it has...- Valens7

Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread
It is pointless to bandy words with liars. There's a different term that might be employed that has the benefit of a more commonly understood meaning. That term is "bull." Of which you are projecting a heaping load. Quite transparently, I'm afraid.- Valens7
