Washed my IE800's ... sadface
Something about Senns, I washed my IE8s too and they turned out OK. The IE800s sound so undamaged that the placebo "They have been through the wash, they can't be right!" isnt even there- volted

Washed my IE800's ... sadface
Good news! I prepared a shipping label to send to Senn for repair. Plugged them in out of curiosity and they are fine. They just needed to dry out. To my ear they sound exactly as they should, which is a shock. Hmmm _scratches chin_- volted

Washed my IE800's ... sadface
Hi guys, So my IE800s went through the washing machine ... gutted. They sound like **** now as expected. Tried rinsing with distilled water and drying, but I think they are dead. Anything else I can try or just forget it and cry in a corner?- volted

Mixer / Receiver / Source recommendations
Hi all, I'm looking for something to take inputs from my TV, some music equipment (RCA) and some other bits and bobs and then provide outputs to my headphone amp's input and some monitors. Ideally it would also be a bluetooth/network receiver, and maybe HDMI too. I'm hoping I can connect all...- volted

M-Audio BX6 Carbon mini review
Partly true, the D2s are a good bargain, but the Carbons have better amping, less noise and to my ears at least are a step up in clarity and imaging and worth it (having owned/used both). The D2s were just too stark and lacked punch. I wouldn't advise anyone go for the D2 over the BX6 Carbons...- volted

M-Audio BX6 Carbon mini review
I had the BX5 d2 before these, and i'd say the signature is much the same. These being bigger drivers produce better low frequency and overall a bigger better sound. They are less noisy too, but the BX6 seems to be an evolution rather than a revolution of the old BX range.- volted

WA3 High pitch whine
Given that the noise stops for me with a tap on the power tube, that's probably the issue but the amp does seem fussy regarding tube pairings.- volted

M-Audio BX6 Carbon mini review
The DAC is an m-audio audiophile USB, not great I know but it does the job. Was thinking about maybe running jack->RCA from my WA3 to warm them up a bit, not sure how that will work out tho.- volted

M-Audio BX6 Carbon mini review
Hello all. Got some BX6 carbons recently so I thought i'd post a little review from a total speaker noob who can't express what he hears ... Good, flat response as expected from monitors Having no sub, sounds very bright, a bit too crisp and attacky in the highs. The sound isn't unbalanced...- volted

WA3 High pitch whine
Best luck I had was with TS 7236, but I prefer the TS 5998s so .... What you describe though, a volume independent high-frequency sound that sometimes oscillates is what I have. Audable though both the signal to the headphones and externally.- volted

WA3 High pitch whine
OP here, I solved the issue by basically finding tubes that dont whine. Went through about 4 5998s and a couple of sets of Mullard cv2492 before I found a set that don't whine. A tap with a pencil or whatever does help though. I'm putting it down to the oddities of tube amplification. Total...- volted

BX8 D2 vs BX8 carbon?
Hi all. I spent some time with some BX5a a while back and decided to buy a pair of powered desktop speakers/monitors. The initial choice was the BX8 D2 as these seem highly regarded and well reviewed. The BX8 carbons have just come out and can't find much information around if the new amp...- volted

HD650 FR imbalance
Hi all, I have some HD650s, just over 1 years old hooked into a WA3. Recently I have had an FR problem in the right channel. Characteristics are inaccurate bass frequency reproduction (sounds a touch higher than it should, sine-y, reverberant), almost tickling resonance at times. Highs...- volted

Sennheiser HD 700: Officially Unveiled at CES 2012!
I'm pretty excited about the HD700s, though the LCD2 sounds like more my cup-of-tea. I think I will avoid the HD700 if the highs are too crisp ... detailed and clear fine, but any hint of glassyness ... Now, if anyone has a suggestion for LCD2 warmth with a HD800 wide soundstage ...- volted

WA3 High pitch whine
Well a TS 5998 was faulty and took out the preamps (http://www.head-fi.org/forum/newestpost/580413) the 5998 had a rotating base ... that went in the bin along with the damaged preamps. I then tried another TS 5998 and a pair of Brimar CV2492s, which had the noise ... then I swapped them...- volted
