Ear fungus sound about as gross as I'm imagining. Yes these would be in my ear for 8-9 hours daily...maybe longer.- alysony

Yeah those are actually exactly what I have. The issue seems to be that when I put them on my head it causes the IEM to shift slightly so I can barely hear anything (music wise lol)- alysony

I sort of figured as much in regards to insurance. It's awesome to hear a precise reason. Thank you so much. I had a question, as an audiologist have you ever worked with patients who came in dealing with sensory processing disorder? That was the doctors official diagnosis so I was curious if I...- alysony

A unique problem. Need some help regarding IEM's or other solutions for workplace.
The biggest issue I've had is that my ears just start aching with standard IEM's. I've used shure e2c's, 310's and 530's. I've had a pair of UE TF-10's and within an hour my ears are practically burning from the pain (I hate having small ears) I've tried foam flanges, rubber flanges the...- alysony

A unique problem. Need some help regarding IEM's or other solutions for workplace.
Hi everyone. It's been many many years since I've posted but I'm still alive and still enjoying music with headphones and whatnot. So here is my problem. A few years ago I started a new project at work that had me inside a large laboratory that housed a lot of people and equipment. This...- alysony

Standard of cheating depressingly low in undergraduates
Quote: My advisor? Yes. He told me to find someone to help me write cause it's not his problem. In undergrad my gen ed teachers were very big on getting 'the engineering kids' in and out as fast as possible. I don't think I'm an expert. I think of myself as pretty smart in some...- alysony

Standard of cheating depressingly low in undergraduates
I will say this though. I have never cheated in the sense that I have taken someone else's ideas and called them my own. I have, a few times written completely made up facts and cited them to someone else (undergrad english writing class). I'm admittedly I horrible writer. When I graduated...- alysony

Songs That Give You the Goosebumps (the good ones)
The one that does it for me that I can think of off the top of my head is probably Battling the Green Death from the How to Train your Dragon Soundtrack. It only happens at the tail when there is only about 2:30 left of the song. I just feel like I'm flying 200mph dive bombing and gives me... -

Monster releases "Audiophile" Earbud Headphones - Gasp!
These are why I still can't take the Monster Turbine's seriously. I've heard the Turbines and I am legitimately impressed, but when a company makes a product like the Turbines and then turns around and makes...these. I kind of feel like the turbines future is wrought with design by committee...- alysony

Cable Skeptics, Tubes and Opamps
I'm stating that the brain adds it's own 'variance' to sound making it impossible to come up with a testable experiment. Sound for people can be duplicated within a certain margin of error but the fact remains that my brain 'hears' things differently than 'your' brain. We can measure how our...- alysony

Standard of cheating depressingly low in undergraduates
Happens a lot in grad school as well. I had one guy literally try to steal my notes after refusing to show him how to do the assignments. Luckily I had a friend with me and after some sort of male on male sizing up, the guy backed down...that was the first time I ever saw someone actually...- alysony

Cable Skeptics, Tubes and Opamps
I think the issue is that what humans hear is purely subjective. Unlike audio signals which may or may not change within a measurable amount, the fact is that human ears are similar but different. They all work the same, but some aren't able to hear certain frequencies. For example, have a 6...- alysony

Yea I got worried about that too. The thing is that Chinese customs takes a really long time. It took me about a week, so more than likely your shipment will be released soon :)- alysony

Thanks to customs I now understand why I can barely stand my TF-10's
After looking at the frequency graph sent to me by UM and more listening I think the issue is that the bass is in fact there, it's just that the majority of the music I listen to doesn't use those low ends. The graph is practically flat until 1khz so I'm thinking that's why. THe bass response is...- alysony

Flying - IEM vs ANC Cans
I fly a bunch too and I've found that if I slide the wires down my shirt the flight attendants don't see them and don't bother me about them. So I generally board while wearing them. However in terms of ease of use the IEM's are orders of magnitude easier to use than cans simply due to their...- alysony

Thanks to customs I now understand why I can barely stand my TF-10's
The e2c's barely fit and I'd been having a lot of difficulty even using the 530's. I could only use them for about 10 or 15 minutes. I am noticing something about the customs. I don't know if this means they need to be refitted but for some reason if I move my head down I lose the low end. I'm...- alysony

Maybe there are filters. I didn't really specify and there isn't anything in the paperwork. It sounds like the 530 I remember, only a little different.- alysony

Single bore no filters. The little sheet they gave me showing the response shows an almost flat curve for the bass up until 1k. Does that sound right for the se530?- alysony

Thanks to customs I now understand why I can barely stand my TF-10's
So I went to unique melody to get my SE530's remolded and they came in yesterday. At first I was concerned because all the bass I remember being there was gone, replaced with what I could only describe as disappointment and mild rage. Then I realized the kind of music I listen to (synthpop and...- alysony
