Where Is the Line Out on my Macbook???
Actually, the processor noise is well documented on the new macbooks (intel processors). It consists of beeps, whistles, etc. as the processor starts up operations. It's obvious when you start listening to a song on itunes for the first time after not using it for a while. Overall, I'm...- portaprostud

Where Is the Line Out on my Macbook???
OK, I keep hearing from others however, how "clean" the signal is through the line out on a macbook. Yet, I constantly hear beeps and other assorted mechanical noises, likely generated by the processor. Do I have to tolerate this whenever listening to music on my macbook, or is there a...- portaprostud

Where Is the Line Out on my Macbook???
Where and what exactly is the line out on my macbook? On the left side with all the ports, there is an opening for a computer lock, a headphone out, then another "out." Is this second out the line out? I'm trying to find a way to get the cleanest possible signal out of my macbook without all the...- portaprostud

How did you turn into an Audiophile?
Never have, man. The freaky bass and thrilling experience listening to movies with my portapros has been exciting enough for me. Headphones with too much treble irritate my ears anyway, and taking that escalator to upgradesville is too expensive for me.- portaprostud

iTunes 8 SQ much better
Can't find those options under preferences. Sounds complicated. Quote: Originally Posted by LnxPrgr3 You can apply things like deblocking and deringing filters to the video to help get rid of common artifacts (blocky picture and noise around sharp edges, in this case). Quicktime...- portaprostud

iTunes 8 SQ much better
Well, the dvd player in os x is vastly inferior to vlc video player. Even though the videocard is the same, the software video playback quality differs greatly. So I can see or hear the same thing happening with audio playback. Again I don't know how that's accomplished. Quote...- portaprostud

Koss Portapro Thread
The latest iteration of the portapro is amazing. Contrary to popular conception, koss has changed driver design over the years. The changes are quite noticable, and the latest version sounds sweeter than ever. Original version: although they sounded about as good as anything available for...- portaprostud

One thing that's not free is tunes' use of memory. It's using up nearly 800 MB of RAM right now, according to Activity Monitor. Outrageous.- portaprostud

You know, at first I was going to say "placebo effect." Then, I started listening to my mp3's over my speakers, and I thought, "you know, they DO sound better!"- portaprostud

Fiio amps?
I have a charger but it's so low quality, I do not trust it. My old rechargeables are all used up, so I have to buy new ones anyway. Never had aaa rechargeables. For me, about $35 with quality rechargeables and charger. Much less with low quality batteries, but several on this board advise...- portaprostud

Fiio amps?
The fiio is not as great of a bargain as I thought. With a decent battery and quality charger, you add another $25. So, total cost of a fiio with battery and charger is $35, not $8.- portaprostud

Hearing loss associated with IEM's?
Most cases of tinnitus are due to repetitive exposure to high noise levels. Most, but not all cases. Also, hearing sensitivity varies from person to person. Some people will develop tinnitus after less frequent exposure to loud noises, and some people are less prone to developing tinnitus. But...- portaprostud

Fiio amps?
I'm pretty much set on fiio's. It looks like they will work great with Koss ksc75's at 60 ohm impedance. I do have to pick up a rechargeable nimh and charger. I've settled on either duracell or sanyo eneloop rechargeables. Recommend me a quality charger for these batteries, and I'll run out and...- portaprostud

FiiO E5 amp (E3 upgraded)
OK, I think I found a good quality charger and battery set. Once the fiio is available again in black, I'll be ready to order. What is the synergy like for anyone with a sansa clip + koss ksc75 + fiio E3 setup? I am hoping to avoid the problems of hiss as some have had. I'm told that low...- portaprostud

FiiO E5 amp (E3 upgraded)
Understood. I see the duracell rechargeables are about $10 for a four pack. What's a good quality chargeable for the nimh AAA's? I'm assuming it'll be around $10, but want a good quality one. It looks like the fiio is not quite the mega bargain I had hoped. Perhaps a $30 investment overall...- portaprostud

iPod 7G: 120gb only
I've heard this too. Macworld's review makes a point of noting it in their review. What about the 80 or 120 gb versions? Are they speedy enough, as in comparable to flash drive ipods? It sure would be nice to have my lossless files all on one player (or on any player for that matter)...- portaprostud
