Quote: Yes, they really are close up. :) Quote: Not sure...chrome? steel? its very shiny. I was a bit surprised as I thought gold color would come in gold color case. though I prefer this one anyway. Just listened to them for an hour. still early to say anything but one thing...- LevA

Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread
Well, after a long hiatus from head-fi, I finally got tempted to buy Heaven VI today. Actually haven't had a chance to listen to the purchase yet apart from a short comparison at the store between Ex1000, CK100Pro and the Heaven VI. What impressed me the most was the soundstage and presentation...- LevA

did I blunder in my speaker amp choice? (50 watt ?)
not as much as the speakers, but they are very expensive.. like I said, anything decent and sturdy that I have seen at the used audio stores here in japan are around 20,000 yen and up. and these are just black or grey metal stands.not necessarily something nice to look at. if I had a...- LevA

did I blunder in my speaker amp choice? (50 watt ?)
well, after two more days of long listening sessions, I can say that the amp is more than enough to drive these Sf's. I think my earlier misgivings on silent passages are the result of some older recordings. I don't know much about the difference of class A and AB amps in regards to sound...- LevA

did I blunder in my speaker amp choice? (50 watt ?)
Quote: That was my thought as well, but I don't know any local woodworker where I live. and I suspect, anything decent (use of heavy sturdy wood) is most likely to cost quite a bit, probably similar cost due to made to order. unfortunately in Japan any decent wood and woodwork is quite...- LevA

did I blunder in my speaker amp choice? (50 watt ?)
thanks for the reply everyone, you guys put me at ease. I usually use probably about just over 1/3 of the volume knob so I guess I am safe. as for some of those quiet passages, I guess its just the way its recorded, as newer recordings are better managed dynamically - at least for... -
did I blunder in my speaker amp choice? (50 watt ?)

A portable tube amp ....
huh? I still have and quite happy with my ttvj portable millet hybrid. actually I have pretty much moved on from looking at portable amps since I got it. sure newer amps might do some things better, but the sound in ttvj is still damn good.. as long as you dont expect it to be...- LevA

Japan earthquake and tsunami!
I agree with with above posts. Although I'm not a big fan of nuclear plants, I think I have come around to accept they are in some cases necessary, and in most cases less destructive than alternative sources. Of course no one would like to have a nuclear power plant near their backyard, but...- LevA

RockBox + iPod + Mac = not possible?
I use a mac (macbook pro) and rockboxed 5.5 gen with no problems. although I did have to reformat my ipod on a friends pc initially. then downloaded rockbox install wizard on my computer and installed it on my ipod. for some reason my first try didn't install correctly but my second try...- LevA
