Audeze EL-8: The EL-8 is a must-hear at CES 2015
Cool to see your list broken down that way! Out of curiosity, what do you hear in the LCD-2 Fazor that you don't get in the X? I've been LOVING the X, but they're a lot more expensive...- KidA81

The Eclipse TD-M1 IN STOCK!
Just received my pair today. Will post some more thoughts and a couple pics later, but first impressions... - really nice, neutral sound in the sweet spot - maybe a bit light on the low end, and a bit of low mid mud, but these are TINY drivers - definitely "desktop" speakers without the power...- KidA81

Grado Labs NEW e series headphones and loaner program!
Just picked up the PS500e from the post office this morning and put them on at work for a few first impressions. Super cool that we get to do stuff like this, so thanks to Todd for making it happen! I've owned (and loved!) the 60, 80 and 325 in the Grado line in years past, so I'm a fan of a...- KidA81

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
I've had the DT880s for about a year and love them...but I got the itch to upgrade, so I purchased a set of HE-500s a few weeks back. Long story short, I LOVED the way they sounded, and HATED the way they felt. Granted, the Beyers are the single most comfortable set of headphones I've ever...- KidA81

REVIEW: Yulong D100 MKII DAC - an update to an already excellent device
From the specs: "Headphone output power: 130mW at 300Ohm, and 900mW at 32Ohm" That's all I've been able to find...but hopefully someone has better info!- KidA81

REVIEW: Yulong D100 MKII DAC - an update to an already excellent device
Thanks for the perspective. I'd considered doing the Schiit thing long before I found out about Yulong, but thought it might save some money and be just as good for my purposes for now as an all-in-one. Wonder if it might be easier to just get a set of cans that might be easier to drive? ...- KidA81

REVIEW: Yulong D100 MKII DAC - an update to an already excellent device
So I'm still enjoying myself, but worried that the D100 is not going to be powerful enough by itself to run my 600 ohm DT 880s. I'm thinking about returning them for the 250 ohm version, but wanted to hear any feedback from people that have owned them, or just advice in general on what...- KidA81

REVIEW: Yulong D100 MKII DAC - an update to an already excellent device
What S/PDIF cable do you use to connect from iMac to D100? I'll have to pick one up and try it myself to see if there are any noticeable differences in volume.- KidA81

REVIEW: Yulong D100 MKII DAC - an update to an already excellent device
Yeah, I wondered if perhaps the different connections from iMac to D100 might output at higher/lower levels. I know I've had surround receivers that have vastly different volumes using optical vs multiple mono vs HDMI. Any specs on the D100 around to test this theory? I looked on...- KidA81

REVIEW: Yulong D100 MKII DAC - an update to an already excellent device
I noticed a difference with the Grados (32 Ohms), and the amp gets painfully loud REALLY quick on those. But I can drive the DT 880s all the way and bear it easily (though I wouldn't!)- KidA81

REVIEW: Yulong D100 MKII DAC - an update to an already excellent device
One other interesting point: Plugging into either the Low or High headphones jack resulted in the same volume level. I guess I assumed the low jack would have a harder time driving the headphones and require more gain?- KidA81

REVIEW: Yulong D100 MKII DAC - an update to an already excellent device
Got a pair of 600 ohm DT 880s in the mail today from Amazon. First thoughts: - much smoother frequency response than the Grado 325is - soundstage feels a bit wider, probably because the drivers aren't pressed against my ears - overall comfort/wearability is much improved - with as...- KidA81

REVIEW: Yulong D100 MKII DAC - an update to an already excellent device
Got my D100 mkII today and am breaking it in on the soundtrack to the PS3 title Journey. I'm pretty familiar with this work, and I'm hearing an incredible amount of detail I never noticed before (distant vocals, mallet parts). I have a set of Grado 325is and they seem perhaps a bit brighter...- KidA81

REVIEW: Yulong D100 MKII DAC - an update to an already excellent device
@project86 Well, I pulled the trigger yesterday afternoon, and have been feeling pretty excited about it! However, I'm a little nervous to have to potentially ship it back to Hong Kong if I decide to try a few different DACs for a shootout -- and the language on the Audio4Less website...- KidA81

Best DAC for <= $500?
Thanks so much for the thoughtful response :) I think it really will come down to auditioning, as it's so hard (read: impossible!) to feel confident in a decision otherwise. But for now it's the Zdac, the DAC1 (used), and I've also been recommended the Yulong D100 MkII as a third option...- KidA81
