Amp Recommendations for HD650 and Grado RS1i ~ Budget $500
Yeah, I know. I read that tube amps are a lot better for being able to play around the with sound signature that you get out of the amp. But, I think since this is my first dive into this world, I would try going solid state for my first go. Since it seems to pair nicely with the HD650s, I...- VitaX

Amp Recommendations for HD650 and Grado RS1i ~ Budget $500
That definitely does look quite good from reading reviews. Guess I'll have to read up somewhat on some headphone terminology in order to fully understand some critiques, but other than that it seems damn nice. Haven't read much about how it is when paired with some Grado's, mainly just the...- VitaX

Amp Recommendations for HD650 and Grado RS1i ~ Budget $500
Quote: Nice, I'll look into that amp. By the way, those headphones you have are all the ones I've been contemplating over and over and just can't pull the trigger. Which one do you recommend for the music I listed since you said you have similar taste in music as I? I've heard the RS1i's...- VitaX

Amp Recommendations for HD650 and Grado RS1i ~ Budget $500
...Haven't heard too much about what fairs well with RS1is besides the Mad Ear + HD. But that might be out of my price range at the moment. *I have not bought these two headphones just yet. I'm still in the process of debating which one I want. But I figured it wouldn't hurt to get some...- VitaX

Are the ear pads that come on the RS1's known to be the most comfortable, or do most spend a little extra to get some other variation of pads?- VitaX

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
When people say a specific headphone works better with a tube amp rather than solid state, why is that exactly? What is the difference between the two and what they have to offer? And is one preferred over the other for the 650s?- VitaX

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
$500 is probably the max amount I would spend on an amplifier. Then again, I don't know too much about amplifiers and their prices these days, so bear with me. I guess I should also say the sound card I have as well. It is the HT Omega Claro...- VitaX

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Hmm, well that might give me an answer as to which to choose. When I sit down at my computer on days I don't have work, I usually listen to music and read for quite some time. So if the 650s are the least 'fatiguing', and most comfortable to wear for long periods of time, that could be my best...- VitaX

Quote: Ah, I see now. So, the reason why the HD 650s are highly recommended is because they are more neutral than compared with the Grados? Also, is there any significant difference between the 600s and 650s from Sennheiser?- VitaX

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
I'm currently the midst of deciding between the HiFiMan HE-500, Sennheiser HD 650 and Grado RS1i's for classic rock/alternative/metal music. This probably isn't the place to be posting this, but I figured I'd try anyway. Has anyone here tried all three of these headphones and have any remarks...- VitaX

Any amp recommendations for the three? Also, how many ear pad variations are there from Grado? Thus far I've heard of flats and bowls. Are the Grado RS1s equipped with the bowls right out of packaging?- VitaX

HD 650 vs. RS1 vs. HE-500 for Rock Music
Yeah, true enough. I'm just a little concerned about the comfort levels since at times I've worn headphones for 8+ hours with really no ear pain. So I guess I was wondering if a lot of audiophiles tend to listen to their music for long or short periods of time and how comfort comes into play...- VitaX

Thanks for that comparison. Gives me more insight into them anyway. Do the pads on the RS1s shape around your ears like Sennheiser's tend to do or just lay flat on your ears>- VitaX

I can't quite decide between these three headphones here for Alternative/classic/hard rock music. I have not tried any of these headphones, but I do own some HD 555s at the moment.
