Comparison: ADC interface for Hifi Recording < 1000$. USB Pre2, ADL Esprit, RME Babyface, ADL GT40. Other Analogue-Digital USB Convertsers??? Experiencies??? Comparisons??? Reviews???
Regarding the RME Babyface, from another thread: AD is AKM 5385 and DA is a TI PCM4104 AD from Fireface 800 and DA from M-32 converter (very pricey) DA I did buy a linear power supply for it, which replaces the USB 5V rail but don't have the details with me (PS also available from...- julius_the_cat

Ross Martin Audio DACs? BB PCM1794 based DAC ($199 single DAC, $399 dual DAC with headamp)
Wish I could help with advice, but hard for me to judge the DAC on it's own merit. My combination of a tube preamp and fairly neutral speakers in a fairly well treated room may be just a unique synergy. The only DACs I have on my shelf right now are an original VALAB and a Gamma2...- julius_the_cat

Ross Martin Audio DACs? BB PCM1794 based DAC ($199 single DAC, $399 dual DAC with headamp)
I thought the headphone out used with HD600s wasn't very good, but only had a hour or so to listen.- julius_the_cat

Ross Martin Audio DACs? BB PCM1794 based DAC ($199 single DAC, $399 dual DAC with headamp)
Website is rossmartinaudio.com. I ordered and received a 1794 dual Bare Beast with OPA627 and OPA1612s. It is on the second page of the web site "More Ear Gear." Case construction is fair at best (the selector knob obscures the source labels). Communication is fair. Time from...- julius_the_cat

Thanks very much. Good deal on HD600 right now. Would your HD650 EQ curve apply to it or require changes?- julius_the_cat

Active Monitors <$1200?
I have used both the balanced and unbalanced inputs on my CMS50s. The rear panel allows a great of flexibility with sources. I liked the unbalanced just fine from a gamma2 DAC and used the front volume trims as my "pre-amp." Focal does make a sub, but it is a big sucker. Placment and...- julius_the_cat

DECWARE HAS RELEASED A DAC!! ZDAC-1
Quote: Cost shipped to you . . $900. What if each day now is not a new frontier? The 30 day return policy refunds your money less 10% for "restocking" and you pay shipping both ways. Total audition cost about $140 (more if you're nearer an ocean). Not exactly a low risk trial, in my view...- julius_the_cat

AMB Gamma2 DAC sound impressions?
I bought two gamma 2 DACs last month from MisterX. I gave one to a friend to compare to his Valab (stock) but he won't give it back. I had been using my gamma (1) for my desktop and had planned on a Buffalo build to the balanced inputs on my powered monitors but . . . I am so pleased with the...- julius_the_cat
