Desktop setup for headphones and speakers
I have the FiiO E09K and E7 with some Sennheiser HD650/600 headphones, but looking to upgrade. I'd like to replace the DAC, get an amp, and also get some passive speakers. I just want to know if it's okay to use passive speakers with headphone amps. If it's alright to use speakers with some...- wicked.ludicrous

Going to an audio store for the first time; any brands I should focus on?
So I'll be going to a legitimate audio store tomorrow. I have a limited knowledge of sciences and 'audiophilia' but have been picking up a lot along the way. The store I'll be going to is http://hawthornestereo.com/used/. I'm planning on spending quite some time in the store checking out...- wicked.ludicrous

For anyone who has returned a product to Fiio, how long did it take to get it back?
My E7 unfortunately broke earlier this week for some odd reason. I've been emailing Fiio directly since the 3rd party vendor off of Amazon wants to charge me $32 for a repair. But FiiO says it'll take ~2 months to repair the product. Is this normal? Anything I could ask for a quicker...- wicked.ludicrous

Any lower-end shops in the Seattle area?
I'll be in Seattle for the summer, and it seems the area has a lot to offer in terms of audio equipment. I'm hoping to check out some headphone amps, integrated amps, DACs and whatnot that are in the sub-$500 range, but the Google searches I've done return more hi-fi shops. Are any...- wicked.ludicrous

How much of a budget should I dedicate to headphones, amps, and the source itself?
I have a very basic setup with my laptop, the FiiO combo, and a pair of Sennheiser HD600s. I've been contemplating upgrading for a while now, but have no idea which to upgrade first. On a percentage scale, what's the most important piece in a setup? Even though I use my laptop as my only...- wicked.ludicrous

Entirely messed up Foobar by accident
Thanks khaos974 One last question: I'm trying to get Foobar to ignore "The" at the beginning of artist names, so it's suggested to use this: $swapprefix(%artist%) Where do I insert that?- wicked.ludicrous

Entirely messed up Foobar by accident
Got Foobar back to normal, so no worries there. But my inexperience with Foobar is kind of getting to me; I still can't figure out how to get Facets working. I got the .dll file, put it in the Foobar folder. And I tried following Hydrogenaudio's guide, but don't see an add Facets as an UI...- wicked.ludicrous

Entirely messed up Foobar by accident
So I was trying to use the Facet UI in Foobar, but I couldn't get it working Out of frustration, I opened foo_facets.dll with Foobar like an idiot, and Foobar won't display anything. Well, the only thing it'll display is the .dll file Could anyone help me to get back to the normal...- wicked.ludicrous

Running the HD650's... Ampless?
As others have said, the HD600 and HD650 are both open. So if you're planning on using the headphones you get in an office-type setting, then I wouldn't bother considering them.- wicked.ludicrous

Most appropriate EAC Lame command line for Lame 3.98.4?
Alright, so this is really really nagging me, as I've tried looking around the Internet for the most appropriate EAC Command line for ripping into V0. I found the following for 3.98.2: -V 0 --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tg "%m" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n" %s %d ...- wicked.ludicrous

Does converting FLAC to MP3 V0 lose sound quality compared to using EAC for direct V0 for rips?
I've been using EAC to rip from CDs into both FLAC and MP3 V0. But for some reason, I just realized that my command line was set to V2 for some reason... I'm just somewhat frustrated so I'm looking to possibly use Foobar to convert FLAC to MP3 V0 if it doesn't take away from Sound quality. ...- wicked.ludicrous

Is it best to connect headphones as close to the source as possible?
I hope the title/question doesn't throw anyone off, but I had a little argument with my Dad about this. Part of his setup is: Sony X111ES --> NAD 1600 receiver --> Hafler 220 The Sony X111ES has headphone outs, so my Dad was arguing that plugging in headphones directly from the...- wicked.ludicrous

Not sure if I have the correct Compression Options in EAC
I've been using EAC for quite a while to convert music to FLACs and VBR mp3s, but realized not too long ago that I had LAME set to V2 instead of V0. My Additional command-line options is: %l-V 5%l%h-V 2%h --vbr-new %s %d I swear I changed it to V0, but don't know what went wrong...- wicked.ludicrous

Should I expect the same SQ from IEMS and full-size headphones?
Hey Head-Fi, I've mostly used full-sized headphones for my listening. But I recently bit on Meelec's Black Friday deal and luckily got their CC51 IEM. I know it isn't the the best, but I thought it would be a good way to get into the IEM market. So far, I have mixed feelings about...- wicked.ludicrous

Considering taking my HD600 on a plane ride. Good or bad?
I'm going on a relatively short plane ride (~2 hours) next week and am debating as to whether or not I want to take my HD 600s. Obviously there's the sound leakage, so I just wanted to ask if anyone has ever taken their pair on a plane ride. Would the plane noise drown out any or most of...- wicked.ludicrous

Is it not common courtesy to tell people they aren't the first one interested in your item?
I just feel the need to get this rant out, because it's been really annoying me the past week or so with 2 sellers here on Head-Fi. Power adapter for Fiio E9
I'm in the process of buying an E9 here on Head-Fi, but the guy is selling from UK, so he has a UK Power adapter. Is there a way I can buy just the US Power adapter for the E9? I've tried googling, but to no avail.- wicked.ludicrous

I'm very close to choosing one of the cans in the title. I've read a bunch of conflicting opinions on the mids between the HD 600 and HD 650, so I'm going to try them out before making a decision. Any input on the mids or sound quality on any of the models would also be greatly appreciated. ...- wicked.ludicrous

Headphone DAC
I've heard great things about the Nuforce HDP and Yulong D100. Both are DAC/Amp combos, which IMO is better than getting just a head amp. I'm considering getting one of the two unless someone provides another model with good recommendations. I posted a thread, but got no good responses...- wicked.ludicrous

DAC/Amp combo
I've been digging around for a DAC or DAC/amp combo to buy, preferably the latter choice. I'd say that my budget is up to $500, so there's a lot of DACs I've been looking at. My only concern is that I'd like to get a DAC that would go along with speakers when I get new equipment in the future...- wicked.ludicrous
