Cheers dude. Unfortunately I've tried Grado's and find them too uncomfortable!

For someone that listens to metal > rock > blues > pop > acoustic (in that order), what headphones would you suggest? I have A50s at the moment, but don't like them! I have $250 to spend, and would like to use them without an amp!

  Heard amazing things about those, especially for the price!! I do, however, find it hard to believe when people say they prefer these to £500+ cans

  Yeah the HD598s do appear to be very good according to reviews, however I do listen to Metallica/Maiden etc alot - and apparently the HD598s aren't great for that!

Could you compare them to any other headphones you own?

  Only thing putting me off getting those, is how few people own them and can vouche from them. I'm guessing you own them?

Hey there I know I've posted a fair amount, but I find this the best way to find things out - and hearing from people that have had experience with these cans is so helpful.   I'm upgrading from M50x headphones. Don't find the sound that inspiring and also not hugely comfortable. Looking...

    Tried my friends Grado 225, can't get on with them at all unfortunately. Don't find them all that comfy either!  Thanks for the recommendation anyway though :) *sigh*, the search continues!

Ah ok, thanks! I'm guessing you can get audio interfaces with more than 2 line outs for if I want to use monitor speakers in the future?

I'm using a Steinberg UR22 Interface :   I'm looking at replacing my M50x headphones, and thinking of going with the HD650s. However, I think I'll need more drive to power them! I was looking at my options here in the UK for amps, and the Schiit Magni 2 seems the best option.   ...

I got the M50s awhile ago, but decided I want to upgrade, so I gave them to my Dad who's not that picky - and in return he gave me some money towards some new cans.   I'm using a Steinberg UR22 interface, so I can't use hard to drive headphones!  I don't find the M50s particularly inspiring...
