I'm not saying that. I don't have the HD598 if they are the same, then, yes they both do, in my opinion. All I was saying that they need an amp.

I must respectfully disagree. The HD558 don't sound nearly as good with out an amp. I owned a pair myself.

I just took a cheap 3.5mm cable  for about $5 dollar and checked it with my $500 multimeter it read .183 ohms. I'll test my BJC later when I get the chance

The HD 558 which i used to own, don't sound very good without an amp. They are open with means that everybody around you can hear the sound they make but are great for gaming as they give you a sound stage. Like being able to tell the guy behind you is 20 feet not 10 feet.
