I'm here to ask your opinion on Headsets Gaming wise, they basicly need to have decent/HQ Sound (7.1 if possible but not needed, take a HQ non-71 over a MEH 7.1).
A Microfone is not necessary since I have a blue yeti. Preferably wired and around the 150$ mark.

The reason I don't ask the Gaming Community is because 80% have no idea about sound quality and the Information is soooo mixed that's hard to come out with a decision.

I had these in Mind:

Most people here don't buy gaming headsets. See this thread http://www.head-fi.org/t/534479/mad-lust-envys-headphone-gaming-guide-2-17-2015

However, the kingston hyperx cloud are considered an excellent value in a gaming headset.

I see, thanks for the answer I'll check that thread.

Closed headphone
Gemini HSR-1000 ($44.99), Takstar Pro 80, HyperX Cloud, Qpad QH-90, all appear to be the same headphone, some with mics built in, some without.

Open headphones
Sennheiser HD558 ($104.95)

Takstar Hi2050 ($58.91) and Technical Pro HPT-990 seem to be the open version of the Takstar Pro 80.
The (closed) Pro 80 does sound a little better (audio quality wise) then the (open) Hi2050.

I also like the sound quality of the HD558 better then the Hi2050 (but the Hi2050 is a good sound quality for it's price).

Sennheiser HD558 ($104.95) Currently looking into these. Though I don't really understand how they are "open" and the other are closed, they basicly don't differ much from each other.

The HD 558 which i used to own, don't sound very good without an amp. They are open with means that everybody around you can hear the sound they make but are great for gaming as they give you a sound stage. Like being able to tell the guy behind you is 20 feet not 10 feet.

The cups of the HD558 is covered with tiny air holes, the Pro 80s do not have air holes.
The HD558 come with a black rubber tape on the insides of the cups that covers about 40% of the air holes.
If you remove the black rubber tape from the cups, the HD558 do sound somewhat more like the HD598.
(and the HD558/HD598 do use the same 50-Ohm drivers)

The HD558/HD598 come with a 1/4" plug at the end of the cable :frowning2:
I bought this aftermarket cable for my HD558 that comes with a 1/8" (3.5mm) plug and you can order it in one of five lengths ($18-$26).

Hm, no I'm not sure If I should go for the HD 598 or 558, Since I don't have an AMP. Also I'm using the OnBoard Audio which won't help much.

I wonder if there's a huge diference from OnBoard Audio or a Sound card like Creative Sound Blaster Z would do much of a diference :|

Either will work equally the same with or without an amp :)

Typically, the Soundblaster Z would be an improvement over your average onboard audio in sound quality. And then it has virtual surround for gaming. A lot of people think that alone makes it a worthwhile investment.

The Sennheiser HD558 (50-Ohm) are very easily to drive, any motherboard made in the last 5 years (or even older) would not have a problem driving the HD558.
You can plug the HD558 into anything and you will get at least a decent level of sound.
What is the make and model of your motherboard?
The Sound blaster Z would be a good investment, you would get the most out of FPS gaming and the SB-Z's built in amplifier will easily drive the HD558.
Many times I've recommended the SB-Z/HD558 combo, never heard any complaints.

Let me just add that I routinely drive my HD598 with an ipod shuffle of all things (I know, I know!)and it sounds superb. My ears cannot handle the volume that is available from that tiny source through my 598's. Sound quality is quite high, as well. Do they sound better through my Audio Note 300B? Probably, but not by a mile. My 598's are apparently rather easy to drive, based on personal experience with small, underpowered sources I have used. They sound better through my phone, for sure, but the shuffle provides all kinds of very flexible, portable enjoyment for us. People are amazed when they take a listen and see that that shuffle is making all the racket in those cans (598).

So, there you have it. My experience with a small source and a 598. For what it is worth. It certainly can be done. I humbly submit.
