What next after K240?
I have been using TF10 IEMs for the past 1-1/2 years. Recently a friend gave me a pair of AKG K240 "monitor" (600 ohm version), and I have to say, that they are much more pleasing than the IEM! I am hearing much more detail & spaciousness, although the bass seems a bit light, and it makes me...- the_eleven

Can "Gain Setting" change SQ?

Best Portable Amp for UE 11 PRO
Yep, that is exactly what I am hearing. The distance and position of instruments is different as well. Things seem more focused on the medium setting. The difference between the gain settings seems less apparent as the amp burns in. Around 300 hours now. Should not the cap forming be...- the_eleven

Devilsound DAC?
Hi Chris, refresh my memory, with a NOS DAC and iTunes, where does the down sampling occur when I listen to a high-res file? What is the best way to this non-destructively? Please contrast the "sound" of the Devilsound DAC, with a stock PS Audio Digital Link III, at 4 times the price.- the_eleven

While respecting the OP's opinion, I have to disagree, completely and totally. After being a "budget" audiophile for 25 years, I am amazed at the quality of sonics I am hearing in a portable rig (5.5G iPod > ALO LOD > SR 71a > TF-10). Given the cost of the "high-end" I find the cost to...- the_eleven

Basically just plug in a load (IEM's) and let it run. 16 hours on, 8 hours off. Ran it on the medium gain setting until I noticed the difference in sound, then exclusively on the low gain setting. I keep the volume control in about the same place. Is there something else I should be...- the_eleven

I have 190 hours on mine, and have a question for other owners. Using iPod 5.5G w/AIFF files > ALO AXC LOD > SR71A + 200ma low discharge batts > TF10, I am hearing a large difference in air and detail between the "low" and "medium" gain settings. The low gain setting sounds muffled, which...- the_eleven
