The Astell & Kern AK240
Could not agree more. It looks butt ugly. looks like its trying to apeal to the "Alian" market. I would not want to own it on looks alone. Unsophisticated kids stuff!- Steve58

Well we did not get an idea of what your annual budget is, just for a sense of scale Have you tried "you know that sewing machine you just bought, well if there was innumerable tweaks and accessories, would you join forums spend a lot of time on the net, buying stuff? "well no" she says...- Steve58

The Astell & Kern AK240
For me the style is...well Picasso and a Klingon walked into a bar............. The 'Klingon" style was designed in the late 80's so from that point of view is dated and nothing new. Pity they did not stay with the restraint and integrity of AK100. I know aesthetics is subjective but I think...- Steve58

I can say without reservation that the Beyerdynamics DT1350 could be an awsome pairing for your situation it is for me anyway, albeit they are not IEM's. They almost totally isolate and sound great . May not work if you are a full bass head, but the quality and deep reach of the bass is...- Steve58

Astell & Kern AK 100 Mk2
Burn in? That is simply someone who has been indoctrinated into all the BS by the audiofool segment of this community. Just a note, I have the ak100 non modded and not a mark11. I use vsonics gr07/Beyer t90 and dt1350's. Funny but i am completely happy with my purchase and have no issues...- Steve58

The Astell & Kern AK240
Wow, I am wondering how much better portable sound can go regarding sound quality, or frankly how much it really needs to. Twice the cost of an AK120? that must be some improvement! Like the difference between a analogue cassette and and a CD to command that sort of price. Well for me anyway...- Steve58
