which IEM's for spoken word and vocals?
hi! can you recommend a pair of IEM's that are well suited for spoken word and vocals, also some movies? i'd like to be able to use them without a headphone amp if possible. i'll mostly use them with my iphone / ipad / macbook pro. i'd love to keep this under $300 if possible...- spoonsphere

help! - AKG K271 MK II making my ears hot and sweaty
Quote: hi maltar7, i thought that since they k240's are semi-open, that they would not get so hot. isn't that the premise that makes the k702/701's more comfortable?- spoonsphere

hi k_19, do you think i'd do better with the AKG K240's? i know they don't provide the same isolation, but would they keep my ears cooler? thanks!- spoonsphere

Bose, are you just paying for the name
with bose, you get marketing (if you want to call that a "name" that is recognized). most here will agree that there isn't that much value there. though you could say that there is some resale value attached to that "name" when you decide that they're not for you. you also get a level of...- spoonsphere

closed, circumaural, comfortable headphones for listening to spoken word, watching movies
so, i went over to my local guitar center and tried out a few pair of headphones (while waiting for my AKG K271 Mark II's to arrive). i had the opportunity to try the beyer DT770 80ohm's, the audio technica ath-m50, and the shure srh840. i've read very positive comments about each of...- spoonsphere

advice on building my first headphone amp
actually, i'd love to build something similar to leckerton uha-6. it has most of what i'm describing. i know that it will be cheaper to just buy the leckerton, but where is the fun in that? :)- spoonsphere
