Give me some examples of when we may need direct recording on the go
So I'm trying to see if it's necessary for me to buy a DAP with a line in plug. I like the idea of directly recording from a source, and yet I'm struggling to think of examples if even I may need it. I am not a musician, and I can't think of any situations on the go where I may need to use this...- Sonyer

Should I buy a 'line out' cable for my Walkman to use in place of the headphone jack?
OK, thanks for explaining, it's been very helpful. Maybe I don't need one after all.- Sonyer

Should I buy a 'line out' cable for my Walkman to use in place of the headphone jack?
Well if it tells you anything: when I plug it in my stereo's mic-in, I have to considerably turn the volume up to levels that would be way too loud for the radio/CD. The red/white phono-in fares better but it's still above the radio/CD volume level. (the same case as when I connect my iPod Mini...- Sonyer

Should I buy a 'line out' cable for my Walkman to use in place of the headphone jack?
There is one on Amazon called Fiio L5 that connects from the WM PORT to a 3.5 mm source. Should I buy this? Currently when I want to listen to my Walkman through the home stereo I connect an AUX cable to the mic in on the stereo, or use an RCA phono in, both from the Walkman headphone jack. But...- Sonyer

I need some novice advice regarding 'line out' and my MP3 player
Before I start, I'm a casual, non-audiophilic music listener and hence not very familiar with some terms. So recently I got a Sony Walkman DAP. I also have a home stereo (which I mostly use for CD/radio) and so to listen to my Walkman songs on my stereo I plug an aux cable from its headphone...- Sonyer

Hello all. I joined yesterday after being a long-time lurker. This forum has had a lot of new and old topics about older DAPs! Anyway I just have a humble request to the community here. I recently saw how badly documented Sony Walkman music players are. I think because of the model numbers that...- Sonyer

New Member Introductions thread
Hello Head-Fi. I've been a lurker on this forum for some time and have decided to join! I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile but I'm certainly enthusiastic about classic DAPs like iPods, Walkmen and Zens.- Sonyer
