I'm hoping for a DT 990 Pro X Limited headphones this year even though nothing has been announced. Given they have done an updated DT 770 Pro X it seems it will be a matter of time for an open back set.

If you are planning not to use an amp I would definitely go with the 900 Pro X. They will be easier to drive and sound good with no amp since they are 48 ohms. The 660S is 150 ohms and harder to drive. Yeah they will work without an amp but they won’t sound their best. To get the best sound...

I will be VERY disappointed if the DT 700 and DT 900 replace the 770 and 990 models since the sound of the models seem to be so different. Based on the reviews and descriptions, these new models are not for me.
