    Electrically adjustable clock possible?

I have been designing an oversampling DAC for the past year, year and a half (in my rare spare time) and I have been thinking about input and DAC clock variances... I mean if the speed of the input clock is off even by 1% we are talking 441 error samples a second in a simple 44.1kHz...

    SMD vs. Through hole

I find SMD much easier to work with, especially when doing the PCBs myself as well as the soldering - 0603 with good twezers is no problem at all even though the tip of my soldering iron is bigger than the part Making PCBs with through hole - drilling and through hole plating - is a pain in...

    making pcb's

I make my own boards using photolithography, takes about an hour - hour and a half for a double sided through hole plated PCB. And yes you can do those yourself, you can do mechanical through hole plating using though hole rivets like these http://www.megauk.com/through_hole_rivets.php -...

What do you say when people ask you how much "so-and-so" cost?

I give it to them straight - my friends and family already know i'm nuts, and newcomers will learn it sooner or later anyways - and I rather enjoy having a rep for being nuts, lets me do whatever I want without people bugging me about it

    96 kHz USB chip?

well 12Mb is enough even for 192kHz 24bit - that only adds up to 9,216,000 bits per second but the problem might very esily turn out to be getting the mcu to put the data onto the I2S bus fast enough and not just that but at the precise speed required for the sampling rate in question

I had the same problem a while back - I contacted creative and after a bit of debugging they asked me to send the analogue card back and they sent me a new one. They were very nice about it and it was no problem.
