Volume control in both models is the same - digital, built-in sabre chip. It should drive power amplifiers exactly the same.- piaseczek

Gustard DAC-X30
Preamp section in spring 3 is active and it will be a lot easier to implement spring 3 into tipical system. On the other hand gustard for best sound requires high input impedance of power amplifier. 100k and above.- piaseczek

Thank you for great review! Quote from your review: "The user has the choice of selecting digital volume control, in which case all attenuation is done in the digital domain by the SERCE processor" Are you sure that digital volume control in not done in the es9038pro? They mastered the marketing, it's so simple. Brutal reality shows that there is 6dB difference in SINAD. It's a lot. https://goldensound.audio/2021/10/12/dcs-bartok-with-headphone-amp-measurements/- piaseczek

Four years after the L.K.S DA004: the Musetec DA005 DAC
Unfortunately it seems that the implementation of high-end chips used in the 005 is wrong and the analog stage is too weak for the 2 x ess9038.- piaseczek
