    Best Smartphone for audiophile

Any word on a new Marshall London phone? Quite like the sound of this phone but as it has been available for close to a year I would expect a new model may be on the way.

FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

Understand your points Brooko but the Fiio X5 II is sold with the guarantee it works with various different file formats such as mp3 and supports 2 128GB cards. It should therefore work as sold. I have the same issues as a few others and with 13,000 mp3 files 'Play By Category' is unusuable...

FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

I have had the same issues and in fact brought it up on this thread a few weeks ago. I have about 13,000 files split over 2 128GB cards. I eventually gave using 'Play By Category' and use 'Browse Files'. I have organised my files into folders i.e AB, CD, EF etc to get to the album i want...

FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

Glad someone is having the same issue I am having!   I agree, with the capacity as it is at 256GB at the moment and hopefully higher capacity in the near future with firmware updates, it should really be able to cope with that amount of files.   On a side note, I know its a often...

FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

Ok I've looked into the 'Play By Category' being slow moving between screens a bit further.   I put just one micro SD card in at a time each with just over 6000 files. I tried both on their own and the 'Play By Category' section worked great - as quick as browsing by folder.   I then put...

FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

Just an update to the above. I haven't formatted the sd cards as yet to try and resolve the issue of 'Play By Category' being painfully slow.   I have been editing the tags in mp3tag in case this has been causing the problem. Although unlikely as i have never had any problem before. The only...

FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

I tried the above and it has made it a little faster now about 30 seconds between screens in 'Play By Category'. Still to slow to be usable.   I will format the cards tonight in the player and let you know how I get on.

Thanks for the reply.   I am using Sandisk Class 10 128 micro sd cards. My files are MP3 VBR with minimal tags and album art is a maximum of 500x500.

FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

Hi wondering is anyone else is having the same issue as me?   I have 2 128GB micro sd cards in my Fiio X5II both around half full.   I am finding browsing through 'Play By Category' section extremely slow. It takes around a minute to navigate to each screen making it unusable.   I have...

    The Fiio X5 Thread

Is there any issues with using 128gb SanDisk micro sd cards with the original fiio x5? I have a couple of 128gb cards and have seen a good deal on the original x5. Thanks.

Apologies if this has previously been answered.   When the X5 2nd gen is connected to the pc does it appear in Computer as separate drives for each SD card?

FiiO X5 2nd gen Impressions and Discussion thread

Apologies if discussed already. I am still waiting for a firmware upgrade on the X1 to sort the 5800 file limit due to the database limitations which was promised months ago.   Is this also going to be a limitation of the X5 2nd gen on its launch? Pretty much a dealbreaker for me if so.

    dream portable music player

Thanks for the replies.   A microUSB to USB adapter or Samsung portable SSD will just make the device more bulky.   Thing is I really just want a standalone music player which caters for all my portable music requirements and i dont have to worry about running down my phone battery.   I am...

    dream portable music player

Everybody's requirements for a portable music player are different. Personally I would like to carry my entire music collection with me so that I can listen to whatever I want whenever rather than copy music back and forth. A device with a dual sd slot and 2 x 200GB micro sd slots would allow me...
