    You should ask people for recommendations instead of forcing yourself to choose between those two. There are so many headphones out there that one of them is bound to fit all of your requirements. If those were the only two headphones in the world I would have to choose Bose though.

    How about a pair of ATH M50s? If he wants Beats because of the bass then they'd be a good choice. They sound much better too.

    I've tried both cables and there is a pretty big difference. The LOD lets you bypass the internal amp of the ipod. There is a big volume difference at the same settings.

    Okay lets get back on topic. I used to own Beats Solo HDs before I learned about this site and got converted. When I ditched them for a pair of AKG K701 all the reactions I got were like "Omg what about your beats? They were so nice!" They stopped asking that once I let them listen to them though :D

    I actually bought some fake Beats Studios off a China wholesale site for <$100 just to see how different they were from my brother's authentic ones. The headphones looked exactly the same side by side except for a slight difference in shade of the brand name on the headband...and guess what...

    You won't consider buying cans that are bassy, stylish, AND good quality? You don't have to choose two out of three.
