I unfortunately didn't keep my very first Beyer DT990, the beginning of my headphone journey many moons ago.

The serial number is 35xxx. And indeed made in Germany (were they ever made anywhere else?). Where does that number sit on the desirability scale?

Why would that be a good idea? I usually try to avoid posting serial numbers when selling stuff online.

I personally run my Utopia of the Naim Atom Headphone Edition, it is a dream combo. Not totally cheap, but you get a streamer and a beautiful all-in-one package. I consider my Utopia and Naim combo to be my end game. You can always squeeze out the last 10% with the latest "ultra" tube amp, but...

Quick observation on the Focal Utopia on a hot day without A/C - while I see the cans as extremely comfortable, on a hot day like today I can't wear them for more than 10 minutes, the leather pads are just too warm. Very happy that I've kept my HD800 - the over ear pads are much more comfortable...
