Behind the times, I have some questions
Yeah, your best bet is to try and audition as many cans as you can to try to get a feel for what you like. The HD6X0 are great cans but some people just don't like their sound signature. The HD650 is more mid bassy than the 600, and the 600 has more shouty upper mids. Both are exceptional on...- MermaidMan

What Can I pair the HD800 with..
For a "budget" rig, I'd go for the Schiit Valhalla 2 and Bifrost Multibit if you can stretch your budget some.- MermaidMan

Behind the times, I have some questions
To be honest, I think you'll be very happy with what you have. The 400S doesn't need a ton of power and the FiiO will be plenty for them. If I were you, I'd keep what you have for a while and wait to upgrade to a better system. A lot of people (myself included) made the mistake of either...- MermaidMan

Rumor: New Sennheiser Flagship to be surfaced ........ soon
^^ So do I. If it's really good it might be my next headphone. I'm getting rid of everything except my Mk3's. It's time to get out of mid-fi purgatory and put together a system that I won't feel the need to upgrade. Edit: Aaaaaand it's wireless...ugh nevermind- MermaidMan

Calling All "Vintage" Integrated/Receiver Owners
My receiver has run into a problem. It is getting extremely hot near two of the transistors and either one or both of them is making a crackling noise. The heat sink is also getting extremely hot when the receiver is on for even one minute. I've researched the problem and it is supposedly...- MermaidMan

Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3
Yes, I'm sure that's the case. I find it odd how much of a difference having thicker pads makes. Maybe it was just the material (cotton) that I stuffed underneath the pads but it sucked out the mids. Overall, I'm really happy with how the sound from a powerful amp.- MermaidMan

Fostex new RP headphones - T50RPmk3, T40RPmk3 and T20RPmk3
I used my modded HE400's as a reference. After mods, they sound fairly similar. The 400 still has better subbass extension but the mk3 is so much tighter than before. The 400 is certainly brighter up top but I am still able to hear subtleties in the songs I used as references in the mk3 (Hotel...- MermaidMan
