Recording Impulse Responses for Speaker Virtualization
Experimenting with different speaker locations and distances is a good idea. A corner placement is likely to boost the bass frequencies, but if it's too much it can be fixed with EQ, and there may be other advantages with your speaker and room. As others have suggested using EQ to adjust those...- lowdown

Recording Impulse Responses for Speaker Virtualization
:L3000:It's sort of like sitting in the 1st row at the concert. But 4 ft could be like resting your chin on the front of the stage. Not a bad spot.- lowdown

Recording Impulse Responses for Speaker Virtualization
There are so many variables I can only offer some ideas. If you are able to locate sounds in direction and depth normally without headphones then it doesn't seem likely that the problem is your hearing or brain. It's probably the localization cues in the sounds being delivered to your ears...- lowdown

Recording Impulse Responses for Speaker Virtualization
Here's the foam backs, and placement I used for my measurements. I didn't intentionally try different placements. My foam earplugs are a bit longer than needed, so I pushed them in as far as I could to get the positioning in the photo. It's definitely not deep into the ear canal. I wish I...- lowdown

Recording Impulse Responses for Speaker Virtualization
Not my experience. I had much more variation and movement of the mic position during and between measurements with the wings than with them cut off and foam ear plugs glued to the backs. But I imagine the wings could work fine in some ears. Also, I can't see a reason why you couldn't glue ear...- lowdown

Recording Impulse Responses for Speaker Virtualization
I have Sound Professional mics and also cut off the wings because they were making maintaining the placement during recording very tricky. I glued foam ear plugs onto the backs of the mics and that totally solved the problem, so the mics stayed in position. I ended up with lots of BRIRs from...- lowdown

Recording Impulse Responses for Speaker Virtualization
I'm one of the technically weaker posters here, but when I look at the graphs you posted earlier they look quite good to me. The difference line between L and R is maybe 1 dB off. And the plots for each channel also look good. There are several options in the Impulcifer commands to adjust...- lowdown

Recording Impulse Responses for Speaker Virtualization
I had the UMIK pointing straight up at the ceiling with the tip at ear height and as close as I could estimate to where my ears had been located during the in ear speaker measurement. Using a webcam might allow more accuracy, but I just sat in the same spot as before, positioned the mic on the...- lowdown

The UMIK-1 is a USB mic so I'm pretty sure I plugged it directly into my laptop. Been over 2 years ago so my memory is a bit fuzzy. I'd always used it with the REW program plugged into the laptop so don't think it needs an interface. I don't know about using the Behringer. As far as...- lowdown

Recording Impulse Responses for Speaker Virtualization
Yeah, that's a LOT. I just did stereo measurements and command options until I got something really good, and ran out of steam to tackle even 5.1. I think I totally got lucky on my UMIK-1 ear location measurements. I didn't use a webcam, just a tripod to hold the mic and got as close as I...- lowdown

I mention the room measurements because I don't have an ideal room either. I did those measurements, then used the room options in the command line, and the sound I get in Impulcifer is like being in an ideal recording studio, or in the venue where the recordings were done. Obviously each of...- lowdown

Google "causes of sudden hearing loss". There's a wide range of possible causes, some reversible, some not. She should definitely see a doctor. Good luck.- lowdown

Recording Impulse Responses for Speaker Virtualization
Can only suggest freely experimenting. Did you try using some of the balance command line options to help with that "sound being mostly from the left"? I've seen some posters say they got the measurements so close between L and R that they didn't need balance options, but I tried many...- lowdown

Recording Impulse Responses for Speaker Virtualization
I'd like to help, but I don't have knowledge of acoustic science or the technical aspects of Impulcifer or HeSuVI/EQ-APO to suggest specific fixes. I can only describe what I did and what I hear. I only did stereo measurements of my speakers with the binaural mics in my ears, and room...- lowdown
