Grace Design m903, reference headphone amplifier, DAC, monitor controller

I had a feeling I wouldn't be able to grab one before the new year. Ah well, it'll come with time.

    Gilmore Lite Amp Owners Unite!

I owned a Gilmore Lite and the DPS from 2005-2006 and I still consider it one of the best amplifiers ever made, and one of the best values in this often overpriced hobby.   I need to buy another one to satisfy my nostalgic cravings.

    DAC Headphone amp for HD650

Quote: With the m903 hopefully coming sometime in the next 3 weeks (can't wait to get one!), you can probably expect to see m902 prices drop. That said, it'll still be expensive.   Quote: +1 for the Total BitHead. You can often find these on the for sale forums inside of $100...

    Schiit Asgard + HD650 - New guy's opinion

Quote: It often works this way. You really don't realize what you're missing until you hear something better, and while it might not strike you at first, when you take away that "something better" it becomes apparent. You'll find that this hobby obsesses in the minutia of things, and...

Grace Design m903, reference headphone amplifier, DAC, monitor controller

Eben Grace just confirmed you can turn it off, and when it's not engaged it's completely removed from the signal path. Also mentioned they were looking at release in the first week of December.

Is the crossfeed circuitry defeatable, or is it permanently engaged?

HD650 tires my ears out?! WHY?!

Quote:   Just to clarify, does the Pico amp/DAC version have line-outs as well as headphone outs? Headamp's website seems to suggest is only has headphone outputs, in which case you'd be sending an amped signal into another amplifier, which could cause all kinds of problems depending on...

your favorite music when you are sad?

There's a massive classical repertoire that I turn to, but in terms of contemporary music hmm...   Both the song and album Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie.

New Albums from Belle & Sebastian and Sufjan Stevens

I'm not sure how I feel about the Age of Adz, meaning that I really haven't listened to it enough to have formed a solid opinion. I definitely find it to be a departure from typical Sufjan; even his recent albums like the BQE sound nothing like this. It kind of sounds he merged with Radiohead...

    Antony & The Johnsons

You're going to get a similar experience for all Antony albums, but The Crying Light is probably my least listened to albums of theirs. I find I Am a Bird Now to be more listenable and an all around more solid album. His new album, Swanlights, is also great, although I'm still breaking it in.

Rihanna - What's My Name *End of a Decade* Could Music finally be returning?????

If anything this thread proves that musical tastes are far from universal. From 1960-2010 my least favorite decade is easily the 80's, but still a far cry from bad by any stretch; I just find less of my listening coming from that decade.   Frankly, I think every decade has had phenomenal...

    Antony & The Johnsons

In spite of the lack of discussion, I know there has to be some Antony fans here on Head-Fi; his albums are not only phenomenal musically, but are well recorded. Swanlights was just released a month ago, and it doesn't go long without a listen.

Albums that are physically/mentally/emotionally exhausting, yet highly recommended?

    Three words: Beethoven's late period.

Any Interest in a Thread on Classical Pianists & Recordings?

Quote: Prolific is an understatement. I have the complete Liszt piano works by Leslie Howard and it's 94 discs.
