Skullcandy Titan Review: Head-Fi Sanity Check

One little nitpick... the ink'd DO have L/R indicators, they're just very small. Look at the strain reliefs closely.

    Ubuntu/Linux and USB DACs

Don't worry about device name. Does it work? If it does, then good!   That being said, PCMxxxx with an analog in and analog out sounds like your onboard sound to me, not the USB DAC.   USB audio is fine.

    how important are amps?

Yes, the HD555 benefits greatly from an amp. Most headphones do, really. I'd not pay more than the cost of the headphones, though. Build or get someone to build for you a cmoy.

Review by 'LantherZero' on item 'Sennheiser HD 201 Headphones'

I was looking for a cheap headphone to carry with me in public, something that if lost or stolen would not be a big loss to me. I bought the HD201, and was pleasantly surprised. The highs are fairly crisp, the mids are very detailed considering the price, and the lackluster bass can mostly be...

sony xb300 for ten bucks.good deal or not?

There aren't very many decent headphones for under $100, and compared to the better <$100 headphones those are not very good, but for $10 that's pretty amazing.

Thoughts about Microsoft Window and GNU/Linux

I use debian, netBSD, and openBSD.   They are all much much more secure than windows (especially openBSD), scale better, have more 64 bit applications, better hardware support (even microsoft can't lie about this one), are far more stable when properly configured, and don't need to reboot...

Who's your least favorite musical artist?

I don't really "hate" any musical artist, but I dislike most trance. I'm also not fond of jpop.

101 headphones you should try before you die

JVC flats. Yes, the ones you can get for under $10 on ebay. Try a pair, if only to show yourself that price isn't everything and that there exists a headphone you can recommend to people who don't want to spend even $50 on headphones but want an upgrade from their ibuds, skullcandies, cheapo...

    Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones

Pretty much every time someone sees a headphone amp of mine, they ask what it is, and when I tell them they seem shocked. Apparently most people think a headphone amp is for making your headphones super loud. They do about the same when they see me wearing anything circumaural... "wow, those are...
