Shure E4c's or SE310's?
SE530 is E500, but the other new ones aren't identical to any of the old ones. Though both E4C and SE310 have that "tuned port" thing, and SE420 and E5C both have two drivers...- ilmari

Asymetrical cable
Funny that, I prefer the asymetrical cables precisely because they don't tug on ears like Y cables ;-)- ilmari

Why do armature iems have larger harmonic distortion than dynamic headphones?
Compare Sennheiser CX300, Shure E2C and E3C on headroom's graphs. The non-armature CX300 and E2C have distortion peaks too, and check out the frequency where they appear...- ilmari

Which Nokia headphones are best?
The nokia headphone adapter has a microphone in it. The button lets you answer calls and activate the voice recognition, so you could make calls without digging phone out of pocket...- ilmari

Canal Phones and change in elevation (change in air pressure)
I noticed the same even without traveling, with Senn CX300. I suspect that foam plugs would let the pressure equalize better than the airtight rubber ones.. Though I guess you have to mod your own if you want foamies with ep630 and cx300- ilmari

How can you stand it?...
I wear CX300 looped over my ears, and have the cable clipped to my shirt, minimizing the amount of cable which has to be carried by the ears.- ilmari

I think I have tinnitus...
Everything around us makes noise if you stop to listen, it's sometimes quite surprising. LCDs have a much more quiet whine compared to CRTs, probably from the backlight. (the inverter?) CPUs in computers (esp laptops) sometimes whine. Usually completely drowned out by fan noise or...- ilmari

Isolation of low frequencies
Yes we have those mats but they're not everywhere. Granted, Peltor + E-A-R classic might not be very effective when standing next to a turboprop, but that combination is more than satisfactory where I work. Even just one of them works fine, though if using just one of them I prefer the foam...- ilmari

Isolation of low frequencies
Well, "real" hearing protection foam plugs can attenuate 29.1dB @ 63Hz and 32.4dB at 125Hz passively, for example (E-A-R Superfit 36). QC2 seems to be in the same league as passive cups @ 125Hz. But I think I'm going to trust headroom's measurements as guide, their synthetic head must be very...- ilmari

Isolation of low frequencies
It does reduce awareness slightly, but it's not a place where sound is vital. The few sound alerts that do exist are paired with powerful strobe lights as well. Usually I keep the music at the lowest setting on my mp3 player, unless it's a very quiet or a very good song. To completely drown out...- ilmari
