Review Tour of the Portable High Resolution Music Player FiiO X3 Mark III is on Right Now!!

Thanks a lot! Regarding the inline buttons in the headphone cord: these react a bit unpredictable. Sometimes pressing twice make it pause. Pressing 3x sometimes jumps forward, sometimes back. I haven't been able to discover a pattern, e.g. that pressing quickly works better, or pressing slow...

Review Tour of the Portable High Resolution Music Player FiiO X3 Mark III is on Right Now!!

I have the X3-iii since 1 week and am very pleased with the sound quality and versatile usability. The player should be able to play M3U files - however it does not. The M3U files are shown in the "browse files" menu; the titles of the tracks (that the M3U refer to) are also shown, but are not...

    Shanling M2s Hi-Res DAP with AK4490 + MUSE8920, Bluetooth, & USB Out

Thanks for reacting promptly. I wonder if hardware is needed inside the player. You may want to look in the CTIA standard. In summary: every button activates its own resistance level (in ohms). It would be sufficient if the player detects these levels and takes the corresponding action back...

    Shanling M2s Hi-Res DAP with AK4490 + MUSE8920, Bluetooth, & USB Out

Great and well-elaborated review - thanks a lot! A few follow-on questions: 1) Does it play playlist files (e.g. M3U? 2) is it possible to delete the song that is playing (i.e. without going into folder view)? 3) can it be controlled via headphone buttons (back, play/pause, fwd) Thanks, Herman

    Obscure Chinese DAPs

I have one and find it so-so. A big minus for me is, that it does not play WMA files. It has no library functions, only folder play - it comes down to personal preference if that is a minus. The combined buttons are definitely a minus for me: the Z3 does not have separate volume buttons, which...

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150

Thanks; very helpful! Regarding "delete files one at a time", can i delete the track that I am listening, or should I go back and foirth in the menu via an explorer-like track list? The first I can handle safely on my bike (it may be a sequence of a few key strokes); the latter rather not.

FiiO X1 firmware version 1.10 download and discussion thread

Some questions before making my choice for a new player: The vendors' website still state that WMA is not supported yet "WMA 48kHz to be supported by future firmware" - is that still true? I have a lot of WMA's at 320 kbps. I read in a review "Scroll wheel responds to the whiff of the wind". Can...

    Obscure Chinese DAPs

Thanks. A few questions on this player: 1) Is it possible to delete songs while playing? 2) Does it support M3U playlists? 3) Does it respond to headphone buttons fwd/paly/pause/back (CTIA standard)?

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150

On the Cayin N3: Does anybody know which are the physical buttons at the side? I never use tochscreen because I use the player while biking. I also like to be able to delete a file that I am listening, but it seems the N3 cannot do that.

    Obscure Chinese DAPs

Thanks, Larry and Ivan. Time to ask full refund. Next time I'll want to check such things in advance - where can this info be found? I saw not a log but a RAR of v 0.3 on https://www.mediafire.com/file/0q5566cux12ng6f/ZiShan_Z2_0.3.rar; however am reluctant to downlaod firmwarde from a site I...

    Obscure Chinese DAPs

My Z3 player does noet play WMA format, even though that is announced in the product description. I tried different bitrates from 192 to 320; none of them works. Did any of you manage to play WMA files? Thanks, Herman

    Sony NWZ-A15 Volume limit removal?

Has anybody tried if the player can be controlled via the back - play/pause - fwd buttons of a wired headphone (CTIA standard, as often used with mobile phones)? This would make it much easier to control the player when I'm biking. Thanks, Herman
