Sorry, no go. I went to Best Buy, Circuit City, CompUSA and Fry's Electronics and nobody carries SS headphones. I really thought CompUSA or Fry's would have them. I mean Fry's is like candyland for computer/electronics geeks, they've got everything!

About your soundcard. You've got an NVidia chipset motherboard, right? You said Cinesurround in another post which is an NVidia thing. That is supposed to be a pretty decent sound system so you might not want to bypass it. (EDIT: The NVidia chipset I mean, not the Cinesurround.)

Don't know what to say really. I tested mine with some Mocean Worker tracks (samples at Amazon here. I thought WMP was better than Real but neither goes as deep as the CD ). Through my Onkyo receiver with bass boost on I played track 2, Detonator, with the volume up to about -5 and the 280s...

I think the comparison would be quite fair. We're arguing about what it takes to get a realistic three dimensional sound in a headphone. You say it takes multiple drivers and we say it doesn't. So lets put some side by side and see. Circuit City has these...

At this point its just down to you putting something on your head and listening. If you can, please give us a review of whatever you choose. If you can get both the 515 and SS headphones and can do a comparison of them that would be even better. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Again, we're not using "virtual 5.1" or virtual anything. Good headphones have a soundstage with depth and dimension on their own without effects. You can clearly hear instruments at differing distances and positions. Same for games, depth and positioning with no "virtual" required.

I'll suggest this thread: http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showt...7&page=3&pp=20 if you want to see a more thoughtful discussion of gaming headphones. A lot of the tournament gamers have posted there as well for those that think that adds some credibility to their opinions.
