    I’d think that as long as the ear tip doesn’t fall off the IEM it’s not a bad idea. But, some IEM nozzles are so short, or have uniquely placed lips or ridges, so I think it would depend on the IEM and the ear tip.

    I’m not sure if they’ve been mentioned here yet, but I think some of the software options have gotten quite good, recently. I find that dSoniQ Realphones 2.0, and APL Virtuoso, to be the best of the bunch.

    The AZLA Origins have a long stem, and are great for short stemmed IEMs. Radius Deep Mount are also great but harder to get in the US.

    Etymotic ER-2 series has excellent resolution for a single dynamic driver, and is around $100. I’m not saying this BLON will achieve that, just that it’s certainly possible to be done with a dynamic driver.
