I've been gone for two years. Are grados still the undisputed king of rock?

I am going to purchase a new pair of cans for rock music, but I wasn't sure if something new has come out that can rival the grados or even trump them when it comes to said music.    Edit: I've noticed a new generation of grados has been released. What are the differences between those and the...

    Help me get into IEM's!

So, to start off,  I'm usually a over the ear kind of guy. I've owned grado sr60i's and I'm currently rocking beyerdynamic dt770 80 OHM. I'm looking at IEM's because the portability looks really attractive to me. I'm going to be buying IEM's because my grado's broke and my beyers aren't very...

Looking for an IEM that is great for rock and under 100 dollars.

I'm not sure about the IEM's, but I know that bose headphones are usually over priced. Can anyone else verify that these are a good choice?

Quote: the pro500mk2 does not have a balanced sound at all. I would steer your more towards something like the shure srh840.

    Your favorite guitar solos?

Somebody is a large fan of David Gilmour . I think my favorite solo is little wing by Hendrix. Although I really enjoy stevie ray vaughn's version too considering it's recorded much better.

I would say that an iPhone can only handle about 80ohm's. Even then, at 80 ohm's the headphones will sound way better with an amp. I'd honestly get an amp if you are going to buy headphones over 40 ohms.

What What version of the dt770 do you have? Also, could you leave some impressions when you get them. I'm looking for an upgrade to my dt770's.

How well do these  suckers do every genre. I listen to everything and like a little boost in the bass. I just don't want the mids to be super recessed. I'm coming  from some dt770's  80Ohm and looking  for an upgrade.

Drums are still there and clear. They just aren't the center of attention. The drum rolls in "Tom Sawyer" by Rush are there and don't feel as if it is lacking. If you need a closed can the shure srh440 is always a great choice.

Quote: They have very forward mids making  guitars and vocals cut through like butter. The highs are very extended making cymbal crashes sound very life like. Also, the bass isn't extremely prominent,, but extremely clean. This makes drums sound clear but no the focus of the music. If you...

Quote: If you want rock cans get the grado sr80i. There's nothing that comes close under 100 dollars for rock. Mind you, these are open headphones meaning they leak a whole lot of sound and the people sitting around you will be able to hear your music almost as  clearly as you can. If...
