    FiiO X1 II (2nd Gen) w/ Bluetooth!

    The UI switches to horizontal when you use the back/forward buttons on the home screen. What probably happened was you tapped left or right on the wheel, though. The new FW by default maps some buttons to scroll wheel taps. Up/down for volume, left/right for back/forward. You can turn it off in...

    Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot

    FiiO is always modest about this. The E12, which was a monster of a portable amp, puts out almost a watt and FiiO only rated it up to 300 ohms I believe.    And the Onkyo and X5 III have very similar measurements, so you won't find much difference going that route.

    Have you considered buying an additional phone for music listening? Should be reasonably priced and will run much faster than most DAPs. The problem is finding one that sounds decent, so you will have to do some research before buying.

    You are naming products that don't use the strict GPL. For example, Android uses a different license (Apache) that allows the many proprietary derivatives to exist. There is a reason why so few projects use the GPL nowadays.

    FiiO X1 II (2nd Gen) w/ Bluetooth!

    Because the Rockbox license would require FiiO to release the source code. Which means it's fair game for iBasso, xDuoo, whoever to use after FiiO dumps loads of $$$ into it.    And last I checked Rockbox downsamples anything over 16-bit. Some people (like me) don't care about that, but that's...

    "Touch screen wheel"    Hmm, how are they getting around the patent?

    Just a reminder of how big a regular SD slot is, since many seem to suggest it's easy to "sneak one in." 1 SD + 1 microSD = 933 mm^2, which is almost 6 microSD.

    The Upcoming FiiO T3 | Dual SD slot | 3.2 inch full touch screen | Optical/Coaxial/USB digital output | Slim design | APT-X | TYPE C |

    Quote: Highly disagree -- but only on the keyword affordable. I think most of the folks asking for a transport are more enamored with the idea of any transport at all -- because one does not exist -- over a $200 one from FiiO. In fact, the idea of a DAC-less device is so niche and...

      Quote:   ES9118 is a new chip, so I can't find any real photos of it yet. But if it's anything like the other integrated Sabres it's probably tiny and very affordable.

    The Upcoming FiiO T3 | Dual SD slot | 3.2 inch full touch screen | Optical/Coaxial/USB digital output | Slim design | APT-X | TYPE C |

    None except that it's being designed with the idea that most users will strap it to something else. Which means they can use the extra PCB space -- that would have otherwise occupied the amp and DAC components -- to add larger storage slots. Heat and battery life will be less of an issue now...

    English is not James's first language, obviously, so give him some slack. He did get the terminology correct once:    Quote:   In other words, "a DAP with transport features."   The reactions to DAPs and phones using the integrated Sabre chips have been pretty good. Honestly, I think...

    To add on to that, the Zip and Clip+ are being phased out in favor of the Jam and Sport. The Jam and Sport both have a file limit that is no greater than 4000. The Jam might still be 2000 even. They use a similar SoC as the M3 by the same manufacturer.
