iPhone 3GS LOD volume equivalent?
I have an 32G iphone 3gs and I use it as portable player since it has lots of memory. It works fine and with similar earphones seems to best my ipod classics. However, when I plug in the lod to use it with an external amplifier or put in on the dock of my Wadia i-transport, the radio noises...- dickbianchi

Large Difference between 80GB Classic and 3rd Gen 32GB Touch
The ipod touch has flash memory and the classic has a hard drive. Could that be the difference.. nothing to buzz and whir. I have an iphone 3gs with 32g of flash memory... and... tentatively... I think it sounds better than either of my 160 classics or my earlier 80 classic. I cant test it...- dickbianchi

What is your favorite audio magazine?
I read stereophile digital because I live out here on the other side of the moon, and digital is affordable. Its also a good way to keep up with the industry news. And it has Art Dudley --have about a dozen issues of Listener-- whom I read whenever he's not remodling a turntable or rebuilding...- dickbianchi

The Stax thread (New)
While reading posts on the "baby stax", I realized that I hadn't listened to mine in a long time, even tho the lod i bought made it sound even better. The reason was that i was on the go a lot and listened to music for short periods during the day with it and it was easier to use my Shure...- dickbianchi

Why no reviews of headroom ultra desktop dac?
There is a kind of audiophile dream that some get to live out, esp. if they live in major city. I am looking to buy a new dac. I would love to try several with my system, and return them until I find the ONE or determine that none of them surpass what I already have enough to make me want to buy...- dickbianchi

The Stax thread (New)
Thanks for the impressions. I have never heard the signatures and it is likely I will try to acquire a pair, since there are many on the forum who find them superior to the pros. The pros have been my favorite stax phone of 3 I own (also own 303s and 5nbgolds (snbgolds. cant remember), but...- dickbianchi

Why no reviews of headroom ultra desktop dac?
I cant find anything substantial about this dac outside of headrooms own press. In spite of the fact that it's been out for several months.... many head-fi folk have heard it (at canjam, etc) and some have bought it. (No reviews in press but it's a little early). In spite of fact that it uses...- dickbianchi

Can the Buffalo DAC compete with Hi-End DACs?
...uses the "highly advanced ESS Technology ES9008 SABRE D-to-A processor".... This is the only dac I know of that is a complete for sale dac using one of these chips. The buffalo is a DIY component and the Nova is a multi-use affair. I have read a lot of comments that amount to "it sounded...- dickbianchi

Can the Buffalo DAC compete with Hi-End DACs?
Has anyone compared the new headroom dac (which has one of their chips) to any "hi-end" dacs?- dickbianchi

Tube Amps + TV
YES! love it for DVDs. Musis dvds, (classical music, opera, broadway shows) AND movies are enhanced by hi quality amplification. I also put the digital output of my satellite receiver thru a dac and it sounds better. At times I like to listen thru headphones with a tube amp. It's definitely...- dickbianchi

Audio Note Dacs, transports and wire
Dick: That sounds like a fun combo. The OTO SE is an outstanding all-rounder. I'm curious how it would sound powering the K1000. Keep us posted. Actually its a STAX energizer that I have just bought on head-fi. But I am curious if it would be a good match for an AKG 1000. I have only used...- dickbianchi
