    Hifiman HE1000-SE

Anyone think the Ragnarok 2 is still a worthy amp for the HE1000se? They are last chance, priced to sell. I have a Violectric V340 currently. Limited to single ended inputs and the sound is a bit polite. Couple of hundred more gets you MJ3 (plus a healthy wait)

Hifiman Serenade - Himalaya Pro R2R DAC headamp all-in-one

HEKSE owner here as well as DMP-A6. Running the Eversolo internal DAC via RCA direct to my Violectric V340 (RCA input only). Was thinking of getting rid of the Violectric as the sound is on the polite side. I do like the clarity of the HEKSE/Violectric combo, but it sometimes is less emotionally...

Ferrum OOR - headphone amplifier with a soul ?

Would you say a clear step up from GSX Mini? The term "warm" has been associated with both the Oor, probably more with the GSX Mini. What are your thoughts on these two on comparison?

Introducing the HIFIMAN x GOLDENWAVE Prelude

Last three posts were in July and they are about another brand's tube amp. No buzz around the Prelude at all from what I can see. No thread in the amp section either. Not even seeing that anyone owns one yet.

    All things Metrum Acoustics

Does anyone know if Metrum only uses half of their ladder when single ended output is used? Has anyone noticed a large gap between single ended vs balanced connection to amps? Especially Onyx

    Hifiman HE1000-SE

Very cool - so part amp, part time machine. Warmth will probably be my next journey.

    Hifiman HE1000-SE

Very cool - I am running mine off my Violectric V340, little brother to your V550. I have been having a little FOMO with the V340 as it only accepts single ended inputs (rca). I have been wanting to get into a R2R DAC, but it sounds like most of them sound significantly better via their...

    Hifiman HE1000-SE

My HEKSEs have landed and.......wow. My journey through headfi truly started with my first "serious" headphone being the Audeze LCD-2 prefazor (just before they went fazor). My youth was things like Grado SR60s and Senn HD598s, so the leap to Audeze was a big one. When I picked those up back in...

    Hifiman HE1000-SE

Ordered my HE1000se today, set for delivery next week! I currently have a Violectric V340 and am feeling like I am missing out on not being able to hook up balanced to it. Not seeing a lot of talk about the "newer" Violectric amps and anything Hifiman, especially HEKse. All seems to be older...

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread

Perfect timing, can't wait for your thoughts. What amp will you be using?

HIFIMAN Arya - Arya Stealth - Arya Organic :: Impressions Thread

I am coming from the Arya V2 (gifted to my father) and looking to get back on the Hifiman horse. For a difference of $100, is it a consensus that the quality of the Organic's construction is a step or two behind the HEKV2 Stealth? If so, is the merit of the Organic now that it is the newer...

Sonnet Digital Audio: New kid on the block, well.. not really!

Can anyone comment on how Morpheus (or Onyx for that matter) perform via RCA output vs the balanced output? My amp only takes RCA input. It sounds like R2R DACs that are balanced by design suffer significantly when run out of RCA. Something about only using half the ladders for some of the...

Sonnet Digital Audio: New kid on the block, well.. not really!

Do Sonnet and Metrum use the same DAC modules? SDA-2/SDA-3 in Sonnet vs. DAC2/DAC3 for Metrum? Assuming they both are using the "2" vs the newer"3" of their respective modules, what does the Morpheus give you that the Metrum Onyx does not?

DACs and single-ended vs balanced output performance

Good to know what the "technical" limitations/implications are. I would think that a main reason someone would want to move to an R2R DAC would be for the tone/timbre vs an increase in dynamic range. Again, not an engineer, so are those qualities not impacted by the technical shortcomings of...
