Searching for ASL MG Head Tube Cage
I have an Antique Sound Lab MG Head OTL from a couple decades ago that still works fairly well with my equally old HD600s. I have kids now and moved around the furniture so that my amp is a bit exposed to a possible flying ping pong or nerf ball - so I actually want a cage/shield now instead of...- dd3mon

Tube Amp Vs Solid State (My Questions)
Some new tube-amp designers are voicing their amps around some good current production tubes (for example, the upcoming HeadRoom tube amp line). These types of amps are nearly as 'plug and play' as SS amps. Just gotta watch for tubes going bad or burning out. -dd3mon- dd3mon

New source brings out the unexpected...
Quote: Originally posted by pbirkett The DAC is five years old. The DAC in my experience performs on par with a new £200-£300 player ($300-$400), but this soundcard to my ears is in a different league, it sounds as good as a very good CD deck, which I find very surprising with it being a...- dd3mon

Is there a way to transfer data from 1 PC to another?
If you're asking this question - you're probably not the kinda guy to go poking around inside your system - and that's fine. If that's the case, you can connect the two systems very easily using your crossover cable IF both systems have a network card. Just plug one end into one system, and the...- dd3mon

Took the SACDMODs plunge
Sent my SCD-CE775 off to Matt yesterday for the basic stereo mods + toroid transformer add-on. He even agreed to lube up my tray mechanism and clean the laser lenses (as I mentioned to him that mine hasn't been 100% reliable lately). I'll be sure to post my impessions when I receive the player -...- dd3mon

Myth or Not? "Cables sound different"
As a most basic of test - something actually repeatable - put a super-cheap cable in a noise-heavy environment (ie: my dorm rom). Turn up volume on amp. You hear noise. Replace that cable with anything better - you hear obviously less noise. Replace that cable with a really good cable (eg: my VD...- dd3mon

EDTV or HDTV
The amount of misinformation here in this thread is easily on the level of the misinformation given about headphones in computer/hot deal/any other forums. Please go read AVS forums or some place far more informed than here on TVs. 1) LCD TVs have drastically improved but still can't quite...- dd3mon

Contact lenses
1. If you have worn eyeglasses, then did you find using contact lenses to improve your visual acuity for better or worse depending upon your usage? I see much better with contacts than with glasses, and in fact wearing contacts keeps your eyesight from degrading further. The average glasses...- dd3mon

DSLR Help!
Canon Digital Rebel XT (350D) is a step above all other DSLRs in it's price range in regard to image quality. It's also smaller and lighter than it's compeditors, but this isn't a plus for everyone. Those with larger hands may find the 350D's grip uncomfortably small. I recommend you go to a...- dd3mon

Anyone watch 'Family Guy' last night?
This was the first FG episode of the new season I thought was really spot on. The others have seemed a little weak to me, almost overshadowed by some great American Dad episodes. The latest American Dad episode however disappointed me - the others had been going well, but this one didn't hit...- dd3mon
