Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

QR codes are not accessible to people without smart phones. Believe it or not, not everyone has one. If you do away with the manual in favor of an online one only, which I am personally ambivalent about, please include a slip of paper with a link to the Schiit webstite that has all the manuals...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I don't think it is available for streaming or purchase to download. I can confidently say it is an excellent package despite the high price however. I got it when it first came out and the mono recordings just sound so clean and lovely. I think quite a bit better in most cases than the stereo...

As a studio monitor, which is really what this setup is, I could see them being amazing!

As much as I love my Zu Speakers combined with Aegir, I would think the DWX would be too big for a desktop set-up. Each is 42 pounds and is 12" x 12" x 23" in size. I bet they sound great though!

Yeah, I am not sure why people on this thread seem to think this is a thing that exists. Under the United States Tax Code, if you sell stock for more than you paid, you generate a gain which is taxable in the year you sold it. Doesn't matter what you do or do not buy with the proceeds, it is a...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

This is not right at all, at least for stocks, I don't have experience with other assets. Once you realize a capital gain on sale of an equity you owe tax for it in that fiscal year. The wash sale rule which someone else mentioned is actually intended to CAPTURE a tax situation rather than avoid...

Cool! I had never heard this and gave it a listen. I think I vastly prefer the originals for several reasons but the most important is I prefer the dying cat! :sunglasses:

I have the Audioengine HD4 which work pretty well for nearfield desktop use. One thing I really like about them that others may hate, is that all the inputs are live at the same time. So, I can feed my PC audio out into one input and my streamer into the other and have both at the same time...

Apple did not invent most of that. For example, the bitmap display was first developed for the Alto computer in 1973. The first commercially available personal computer system to use one was the Xerox Star workstation (I used this in my job in the mid 80's, gorgeous graphics on huge monitors...

I agree, and furthermore, while I may be dense, I fail to see the compelling use case for fully digital volume attenuation in a system that by every definition must eventually output analog sound waves. Even if there is a compelling use case, I would imagine that it would best be done in...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I have asked. That gave me the basis for the question I initially asked. I do sincerely appreciate your warning about loud music and damage to hearing. My kid listens at pretty low volume, since even moderately loud noises are something they do not like at all so I am less worried than I would...

Yes, I did! That's where most of the requirements and wish list items came from in the first place. I am not trying to put my preferences on them, if I was, they'd want speakers and a stereo component system in their dorm like I had.

They primarily use headphones from PC or laptop, more rarely from phone or with powered speakers (Audioengine A2+) from the PC. Your points are well taken and well worth considering in the shopping process. Thank you!

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

These are pretty much exactly the reasons my kid wants open back for what it is worth! Not the cyclist per se, but being aware of their surroundings. Plus they are forgetful and keeping things charged is a pain for them. Thank you to all of you for your suggestions, lots of good things to...

Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Just one, my kid uses use they/them pronouns. They do not like anything stuck in their ears, so any IEM or earbuds are a non-starter. Your point about open back in public is 100% valid, but they listen at pretty low volume and want to be able to hear what is happening around them so ANC isn't...
