Can anyone shed some light on the recent 400i price drop?

You make some good points! It could just be new competitive pricing, or maybe clearing stock for a new model. I wouldn't be surprised if by March there was a new 400 series model.

Can anyone shed some light on the recent 400i price drop?

So I've been eyeballing some Hifiman RE 400i's for a while, thinking maybe I'll sell a couple pairs and get some planar wonderfulness, and just a few days ago I was poking around amazon.ca(I'm in Canada), and I see that they've gone down from $650 to $350, and the same thing on amazon.com- down...

    TH-X00 with Lawton pads?

Update. I found a thread where someone put on some 1540 pads. I have some extra 1540 pads, so I put them on. Wow. Night and day comfort difference. Also super easy upgrade.

    TH-X00 with Lawton pads?

I've seen reviewers that say "don't change the pads on these!" but I really want to. The way they pin my ears back gets uncomfortable after about 20mins, and by an hour I'm desperately looking to listen to something else.    So I'm wondering has anyone swapped the stock pads out for Lawton...

What did you end up going with?   I have the 1540's and X2's, and they couldn't be more different. The 1540's are very much a pro tool insofar as they're not tuned for fun, but for extreme accuracy. And in that regard they're amazing. The accuracy and perfect detail of the sound is absolutely...

Watches - another passion of ours, it seems...post your pics!

Skagen something something. The model number reads like an alphanumeric serial. But I love it.

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II

My best friend came over a few days ago and I told him he needed to hear my new cans; 1540's and a Schiit stack. Played him 2 songs before he started weeping like he'd never heard music before.it was beautiful.

Newbie looking for advice on maximizing experience(already have gear)

Hey guys I'm really new to this audiophile world, but I'm madly enamoured with a great listening experience. I'm trying to make the most out of my gear.    Right now I listen to music from my PC via a Schiit Modi 2/Magni 2, Shure 1540, or Sennheiser 598(what a difference the Schiit stack...

How to get the best out of my 535s?

I need some advice on how to use/maintain/make the best of my new Shure 535's. I've always been a fan of the brand. I went through a couple pairs of entry level Shure's years ago and loved them to bits, but I think I ended up damaging them(constant crackling) because of misuse/misunderstanding...
