Stoner/Doom, ma'an. Represent, yo!
Yeah, it really is. I liken them to the old Delta/Chicago bluesmen. NO respect in the US, at the time, but the rest of the world gobbles it up. A lot of integrity, unity, and extremely friendly and cooperative musicians. Never mind that most of the audience on any given gig are members of other bands. Also, there seems to be WAY more female presence than any other form of metal I can think of. It's just a really cool scene.
Ironically, Stoner/Doom was probably even more helpful for me than AA/NA when I got clean 25 years ago! Yep- Kyuss kept me sober
