New- Zishan Z1 DSD player thread

LO stands for line out. It means the analog signal right after the DAC (digital to analog converter), and before feed into the amplifier section.

LO usually has constant output voltage level, and can be feed into other amplifiers, for headphone or speakers.

With my preferred earbuds the LO is plenty high. I guess this means that the DAC can drive them just fine? Next, would this mean it ought to be possible to connect the legs in the op-amp bed with each other ("empty" op-amp) and thereby completely bypass the amp and still be able to use the volume control?

Actually it's quite complicated. I'm no expert on this. Some basic points are:
1) The headphone impedance differs at low, mid and high frequency. To have a good bass, it needs more power. For smooth highs, it needs better control. That's why op-amp rolling makes difference.
2) The electric capacitors at amp section are very important to deliver good sound. They're like power tank.

I did. I liked it very much. Look at my post a few pages back. I decided to put it in something else though, where I could hear it's proficiency better.
What's wrong with your Z1?

Must have missed it, thanks!

My Z1 distort like crazy with a number of op am including the V5i and the stock one.....

Really? Mine does not as far as I can tell. At least not at any listening levels I have used.

No, I'm pretty sure mine is broken. I will contact the seller to see how they'd like to solve it, just haven't had time to do it yet.

I am afraid I'll go against the current here but I did not like Zishan Z1 at all. Admittedly I am an old guy and my main musical vehicle is (pretty decent) home hifi. I use DAP/headphone system only when travelling by plane/train/coach.
The sound of Zishan Z1 is harsch and mechanical as if robots are playing my music. No life at all. Also it is a bit distorted on high hat and the like percussions. I am burning it in in faint hope that things will improve. BTW I am getting 13-14 hours battery life with uninterrupted FLAC play on normal listening level.
Of course you are getting a tremendous reserve of output power with Zishan Z1 but that's the only benefit I see. Soundwise it is no comparison even with humble ONN W7. And even for $30 it is not worth the money.
I bought it via aliexpress.

To each his own, I suppose. Everyone have their own taste and as such what is harsh and mechanical to you can be bright and clear to others, so....yeah.
Still, op amp changing can do quite a lot in this case, and I have heard that the 2406 darken the sound signature quite a bit: You should try 'em.

I can confirm that the LME49720HA has more bass than the LME49720NA and has even better clarity though not by a lot. You get that bass back that you loose when shitching from the 2604 to the LME49720NA. I have only listened to it with my KZ ZS3 and Ty HI Z 32.

What vu level do you set when listening to these testings? I can hear obvious clippings with 2604 compared to 2134. My vu is set at 6 oclock with monks. Seems lme 49720 is nice to try.

The Zs3 and TY32 are 18Ohms and 32Ohms respectively and my pot when it is at 0 volume is at about 11:30 I listen at about 9:00 to 8:30. What headphones are you using?
