Wait, so the plugs have pins protruding outward ? What if careless/mindless people unplug the headphones but keeping the cables plugged into the amp.....then touching the bias pins ? Gotta be fun. Only 550-580V tickles

The plugs area screwed on and there are no exposed pins when detached. Good grief. You're more likely to get a shock if you plug or unplug the headphone with a live amp, but the output impedance are high which is why so far nobody has died using a headphone. That is actually one reason I dislike the Stax plug, it's a poor design.

Will there be more than 1 finish available for the Ether ES? What if we prefer the older blue finish?

And will the regular Ether headbands be available, without the holes?

No color options. All our headbands are interchangeable but this one is super comfy.

I like the design. Except perhaps that it looks a bit awkward with the stator and the sparse metallic grill but I don't care if it sounds better than with a denser mesh.

I believe that is what is going to be black in color in the final production run to "make it look cleaner".

I have very high interesting in elektrostats headphone, but still not ready to buy an 5 grand amp just for elektrostat headphone. For now I am still pre ordering Woo Audio WA33 with 10 Watt of speaker out, could it sound great when combine it with woo WEE?

For sure you'll see them at CJLondon. The ES always travels with MrSpeakers to these meets. They are anticipated for purchase later this year.

So what I've gathered so far is that when these come out they'll be an end game option where the entire RIG costs just over TOTL options from Audeze and Focal. Maybe the same price as the new Hifiman. I certainly won't have budget for headphones of this caliber in the near future but good lord is it fun watching the rapid pace of innovation.

So up against the Hifiman Shangrila, the Sennheiser HE1v2, Questyle Gold Stack with Focal Utopia and the MrSpeakers Ether ES wins the XTREME award at the LAAS17. I'd say that says a lot about the SQ & BQ on Dan Clarks new upcoming Electrostatic headphones.
