    Galaxy Note 5 Audio Quality

I know exactly what you're talking about. Just got a Note 5 last week and I'm experiencing the same issues. Using either Google Play Music or the built-in Samsung app, I get all kinds of clicks, pops and other high-pitched nonsense that doesn't show up on my iPhone or on my computer. AAC and...

    Does WASAPI support 24/192?

From what I can gather, 24/192 is possible over S/PDIF. Based on what I've read, my DAC should support it. When using DirectSound, it seems that 24/96 works, but not 24/192. This would seem to indicate, at least to me, that the optical S/PDIF output on my motherboard doesn't support 24/192. But...

    Does WASAPI support 24/192?

It most certainly is. Well, now anyway. Lol   It seems that setting the output to 24/192 causes the same issue, even on DS. Setting it to 24/96 works like a charm. WASAPI doesn't seem to want to work regardless of the settings.

    Does WASAPI support 24/192?

But here's the thing. I went in and checked the Windows sound settings and found the sample rate was set at 48 kHz. That was the only box that was checked. I unchecked that and instead checked the 192 kHz box. In theory, with only that box checked then Windows should upsample everything to 192...

    Does WASAPI support 24/192?

I recently downloaded a 24/192 version of "Purple Rain." But much to my dismay, I can't get these files to play the way I want them to.   Right now, I'm running the optical output of my motherboard to a Schiit Bifrost. Windows 8, foobar2000, WASAPI output. I'm almost positive the DAC supports...

    Lets Talk Metal

I busted out something I haven't heard in years yesterday; Fates Warning's "The Spectre Within."   There was a time when I thought this album was a complete masterpiece, but after listening to it yesterday... well, I'm not so sure. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic album. But I'm not sure I...

    Amp Suggestions for HiFiMAN HE-6...

Well I'll be a son of a bootch. Turns out I have the same receiver, but I never thought to try to run something like the HE-6 in this manner. Sounds intriguing.

    Macbook Pro 2007 Audio Quality?

Your MacBook should be able to power it just fine, but you really won't be getting the most out of them that way.  The D5000 is a deceptively fickle beast.

Jim Tressell out at Ohio State University

I'm not sure Tressell is going to be seen again for quite some time.  He had baggage coming out of YSU, and now all this business with OSU is just going to make things worse.  I don't see any teams going near him unless they're really desperate.  As for Pryor, he's done.  I'd be very surprised...

Jim Tressell out at Ohio State University

I've been pretty silent about this whole thing so far, mostly because I'm dumbfounded.  As an OSU grad (Class of '06) and diehard football fan, I want to say that I'm shocked by this, but I'm not.  I always figured that no coach was perfect and that they all are guilty of something.  But I can't...

Is there a firm release date for these yet?  As much as I love my DT770, I sure could use an upgrade.

Which of your closed cans isolate the best?

I agree about the HD280 isolation.  Best of any closed cans I've ever tried.  But they get uncomfortable quick (at least they did for me).

Who's your least favorite musical artist?

"Gangsta's Paradise" annoys me.  Maybe if Coolio didn't rip off a Stevie Wonder song I wouldn't mind it so much.   Quote:

KISS-"Music From 'The Elder'.....Any other fans of this Album?

In all honesty, despite all of the terrible reviews, there are a few songs on the album that I like.  Granted, I still think the album as a whole is terrible, and even the few highlights aren't all that great.  I don't have own the album, but at some point I'll end up getting it because I love Kiss.

Who's your least favorite musical artist?

Nickelback solidly holds the number 2 spot on my list.  They would normally be 1, but they haven't been in the limelight much lately so I've managed to (thankfully) forget they exist.  But you've reminded me of it and now I have to go break something.    Quote:

Right now, the Black Eyed Peas hold the top spot on my hate list.  The very thought of them makes me want to run toward the nearest living thing and kill it.

    A Question to Fellow Metalheads...

So far the price on the original pressing hasn't gone up too much.  But there are still 4 days left on the auction, so we'll see what happens.   I actually went this route with my Heathen CDs.  I bought the remaster of "Breaking the Silence" and couldn't stand how it sounded.  In my opinion...

    A Question to Fellow Metalheads...

So I'm faced with a dilemma.  I would very much like to purchase Kreator's "Pleasure to Kill" but I don't know which version to get.  I've managed to track down the original CD release from the 80s, but I can always pick up the remastered version from 2002 for much less cost.  As cool as it...

    PC/PS3 -> Denon AVR-1909 (-> Headphone amp)?

I'm not sure how much benefit a headphone amp would be over the Denon's headphone output.  It really depends on how good the out on the Denon is.  I'm not very familiar with the HD598, but I can't imagine they are difficult to drive.  From that standpoint, the Denon's output should be perfectly...

Seeking source to complete my new system. (schiit valhalla + K701)

A used Stello DA100, perhaps?  When I bought it new I believe it was around $600 or so, and it was definitely worth it.  I would see if you could find a used one in the $400 range.  Even if you had to go a little bit over, it would definitely be worth it.  It isn't the most high-end DAC, but it...

    onkyo tx-sr805 as my dac

Why not try the headphone output on the receiver before investing in an amp?  If it sounds good, then just go with it.  If you don't like it, then worry about an amp.  I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-94THX receiver and I run the optical output of my motherboard to it.  For reasons that I can't quite...

Looking for Some Idea... Closed, Circumaural, $200 or Less

What about the D1100.  How do those compare to the SRH840 and M50?   Quote:

Looking for Some Idea... Closed, Circumaural, $200 or Less

The D1100 and M50 are two that I had in mind.  Having tried neither myself, I've been led to believe (based on what I've read) that the Denon's are more comfortable.  That said, I'd probably pick the Denon's over the AT's.  I also had my eye on the Shure SRH840.
