Ned some advice for "work" cans.. Full size, closed back. $200 range...

Well it's been forever since I've been here, or got on a headphone tear, and I'be been through a number of sets of cans and now I'm back in the market. The hobby got a little out of hand for a while.   what I've had/used/sold/have   Grados SR-60 still have Grado SR-80 still have...

just got some ATH-CM700s off ebay. Harshness issues.

It's been quite a while since I've visited or posted here. Anyway, i picked up a set of ath-cm700 earbuds from ebay for what seems to be a rediculously low price, and now I'm wondering if they are knock-offs. I got them last night and was very excited to gove them a listen. Long and shot of it...

    hd 595 first impressions

my fav so far out of my AT a900s or grado 325s. Overall, better seperation, wider and deeper soundstage, less fatigue over long listening sessions, warmer sound, especially with guitar and bass plucks (ATs and 325s seem clinical in comparison). Not as laid back as I was expecting them to be...

OT: Here's what I listen to...

in discussion and when inquiring about headphones, many people ask "what do you listen to". Well, lots of stuff. After many months of rippping CDs and organizing stuff, I finally finished cataloging my tracks and decided to post them on my website. Just thought I'd share... My Catalog of Songs

    anyone tried the ATH-CM7's yet?

I've been on a quest for superb earbuds and almost got the 888s but after reading about build quality and some of you having had them fall apart, no thanks. I dont want canal phones as I will be walking around and riding my ike with them so isolation is maybe NOT such a desirable trait...

I have them charging right now, i'll let y'all know how they sound in the next day or so... the model is the MDR-RF945RK. I dont have very high hopes but may be preasantly surprised, who knows... i'm replacing a pair of Acoustic Research AW791 wireless cans that recently **** the bed. No...

what are the best earbuds for $150 or less

    echo indigo arrived, i like!

oh the sweet, sweet silence! I was seriously sceptical that is would be as silent as the website claimed but to my ears, there is no noise floor. I mean zero. Not even at full volume. You could seriously make your ears bleed with this think. I have my volume at 50% on the card, the PC auido and...

Best laptop or USB sound "card"?

I'm still enjoying the hell out of my a900s, in fact more so than ever. They just keep getting better, the more I listen. What a treat! Anyway, my headphone jack on the laptop is pretty sucky and I wanted something a little cleaner, warmer and more powerful to listen through than my onboard...

    Wanna tax your cans?

There was a thread not to long ago about cans for bass heads and what to test them with. Well, even on the most robust headphone and loudspeaker systems, i've found a track that can bring them to thier knees. KMFDM Megalomaniac. Granted there is some distortion in the track intentioanally, but...

    I *LOVE* my "new" A900s

I’m in love with these. I pulled them out of the box, and in 30 seconds, knew it was exactly what I was looking for in a closed can. Easy to drive, more forgiving on crappy source than the CD3K, I like the more clamping, tighter fit and they seem a touch warmer than the cd3k but that could...

Sadly, the CD3Ks are not the right cans for me..

Initial Impressions? May laoptop sounds like $hit. If anyone is considering buying and using these for PC listenting. Don't. I'm not saying I don't love them but it feels like I'm driving a ferrari around the autorama at disneyland. I'm simply not doing them justice. Plus you will realize how...

Team CD3K has a new member...

It's ME!!! I bought them of a member of this forum and got them about 30 minutes ago! I had already placed an order with audiocubes for the A900s and was able to cancel it at the last minute after "raif" pm'd me and asked if I was still looking for some. My initial impression was... HOLY CRAP...

highly reccomended Grado SR60 pad mod

I took the comfy pads off my SR60s and layed them down with the flat side down on the table and traced a quarter with an exacto knife and it is a major improvement, and cheap. Especially since it was somone else's quarter. :-) I would have never guessed how much the comfy pads muffle the detail...

closed cans, the verdict is... the A900

I've been agonizing for a couple weeks about which closed cans to get and i've decided to get the ATH-A900s. I've read very favorable comments and as infrequently as my common sense would prevail and for my uses, i cant justify shelling out $380 for the CD3Ks. What I really hope they sound like...

where to audtion CD3Ks in SF Bay Area?

Does anyone know where I can audition some CD3Ks in the SF bay area. It doesn't seem like many (or any) retaillers have the higher end sony stuff. I've been in the mode of buy-try-sell and now that stuff is getting up in the dollar range, i'd like to try before I buy. Any sugestions would be...

Sony CD3K group buy? any interest?

was thinknig I'd post a question and see how many people would be interested in a Sony CD3K group buy. I don't have anything lined up yet but i figure if there are enough people involved, we could get 'em new in box for around $350/ea. (maybe even shipping included)Thoughts? I posted this on...

    Sony CD3K. A/T A-900 or A-1000 ???

Well, after reading all your posts and searching archives untill my eyes about fell out of my head, i've narrowd the search for my ideal closed cans down to these 3: Sony CD3000 Audio Technica ATH-A900 Audio Technica ATH-A1000. First off, these will end up unamped most of the time. Well...

HELP, does such a headphone exist?!?

DISCLAIMER: I posted this earlier but got very few opions due to the fact that I probabaly mis-titled the thread.. In any case, I look forward to you responses.... I just received my hd590s and even right out of the box, I must say, my Grado SR325s can't touch the soundstage or comfort...

Senn HD590 vs. Grado SR325 (quite long)

I just received my hd590s and even right out of the box, I must say, my Grado SR325s can't touch the soundstage or comfort. That being said, I will add that the Senn's have a much more laidback soundstage but I'm not sure they lack any detail albeit the highs, as crisp as they are, are less...

Harsh Grado SR325s revisited, i'm floored... long

Hi All, I wrote a little while back about how disappointed I was in my new 325s and I got alot of suggestions, most of which, to your credit, were spot on; ranging from burn in to new pads, etc. First off, I'll admit that all I've ever used for source is an IPOD and my laptop. When I first...

best sealed cans for $200 or less?

First of all let me just say i'm a freakin' headphone junkie thanks to you bastards!! The SR80s started it all when I couldn't bear the ipod ear buds. Then the SR325 which are on my melon as we speak. Just got Tood the Vinyl Junkie's flat pads but havent tried them yet. I have a pair of Senn...

just got grado SR325 and they sound harsh.. Suggestions please?

I just got a pair of RS-325s off ebay and upon first listening to them, after my SR-80s I was a bit disappointed. The ear pads suck, so they will be immediately but what really surprised me is how cold, bright and in general just fatiguing they are compared to the 80's (i'm new at this so I...
