Best full desktop setup for under $1000
Its nice you have found something you like. I have been studying this power, source, dac, amp, and headphones business pretty extensively and pretty much it comes down to what you can enjoy with your sound system because everything pretty much add some kind of mechanical coloring to the...- lag0a

64 bit Linux audio player + buffer options?
Nevermind. I just went to audacious's config file and edited it to 10 ms. I also found out audacious version 2.5.1 has replay gain track ON as default so that wasn't good.- lag0a

64 bit Linux audio player + buffer options?
Fatdog64-521 has an "audio-all-in-one-amd64-10.sfs" with Qtrctrl to change latency settings but for some reason after using it and opening audacious, qtrctrl doesn't recognize audacious as a music player I can connect to nor does audacious has a jack output plugin that I thought could connect to...- lag0a

Twisted Pear Audio Opus DAC
TPA has a USB receiver that uses bus power and I'm looking for a USB receiver out there that uses an external power supply so I'm wondering if anyone else know a USB receiver like this or already using one in their TPA DAC configuration? I'm looking for a non-TPA USB receiver that works in...- lag0a

64 bit Linux audio player + buffer options?
Hi. I am wondering if there is a 64 bit Linux audio player out there with built in I/O buffer in samples, number of audio buffers, and buffer size to adjust latency in ALSA. It would be great if the I/O buffer size in samples could go as low as 16, number of audio buffers as low as...- lag0a

RAM and interface in DAC possible?
No. My Twisted Pear Dual Mono Opus DACs are powered by their own linear power supplies. I connect my computer's sound card's coaxial digital output to my DAC's coaxial SPDIF receiver. The CPU controls everything in the motherboard so I am pretty sure it is the cause aside from the power...- lag0a

RAM and interface in DAC possible?
It could be the voltage regulators in the switching power supply and the voltage regulators in the motherboard suck so undervolting the CPU changes the sound.- lag0a

RAM and interface in DAC possible?
AMD Athlon 64 3700+. Cool n Quiet lowers it to 1.1v 1ghz so I had to disable it to try 0.8v and 1ghz. I don't have any equipment for objective tests but my ears could hear the difference immediately. Well, this doesn't have to be a fix for anything since some people may want something like...- lag0a

RAM and interface in DAC possible?
I don't have the know how to build something like this or software engineer skills to program it so I'm pretty much looking for something already made or being developed. I think this RAM/RAM interface should come after the USB/toslink/coaxial spdif receiver in your DAC to receive the data then...- lag0a

RAM and interface in DAC possible?
I have tried undervolting and underclocking my CPU and it sounds a lot better that way. Some CPUs might not boot up but if you can undervolt it to 0.8v and 1ghz then it should sound better than higher volts and higher clock. I have also read about people using linear power supplies at the P4...- lag0a

RAM and interface in DAC possible?
I am wondering if you can add RAM and a RAM interface into your DAC to store the music file there temporarily to play it then automaticly delete it. This idea came to me because I think the CPU imprints it's own sound signature while processing and buffering the music file into your DAC. I...- lag0a

Virus scanners and other background nasties
I just discovered a few days ago using linux sounds better using my sound card's coaxial output to my DAC but I'm not sure about USB since I don't have a USB receiver. I think the benefit is it loads completely into ram since it is so small like 200mb compared to windows 7 x64 that is 10+gb. I...- lag0a

Musiland US 03 (03US, US03...you know what I mean).
According to Hifiduno, does bulk transfer mode not really affect jitter in how long the usb cable is? Is there a way to tap the board for SPDIF output since they replaced the coaxial spdif output to that mulink? I like how they're using a oscillator now instead of the crystal. It would be nice...- lag0a

Twisted Pear Audio Opus DAC
Why does their SPDIF receiver have 4 I2S options while their current USB receiver only allow 24 bit I2S? Shouldn't the USB receiver just allow I2S and 16 bit or 24 bit depending on the source? If you play a 16 bit music file from the source to the SPDIF receiver using 16 bit I2S it seems...- lag0a

Advice on Power line Noise and Recommendation on Power Conditioners
The more I read about AC line filters it all seems like a game to me that adding more makes the sound in your audio system sound better to no end. It seems like no one knows exactly how much noise and what kind of noise, and how to get rid of the noise completely. It seems you can only lower the...- lag0a

Advice on Power line Noise and Recommendation on Power Conditioners
I am not on a dedicated power line but a shared line so other electronics share the same power that should interfere with my system. Fidelizer 2.0 - Introducing new UI with multi-core optimizations
Does using a multi-core cpu compared to a single core cpu make the data sent faster so the audio data computed and sent by the cpu sounds smoother or something? Has anyone experimented with this? On the flip side the CPU seems to be susceptible to RF/EMI so using more cores means more...- lag0a
