Album Art display niggle on ipod
Could try the transfer for the problematic albums on itunes. I think itunes manages its own album art so it should not be a problem. I use foobar for my transfers instead of itunes sometimes and it seems to work fine on my 5.5G. It could be something in the new ipods.- ernieBob

P7 IS HERE INS AUS!!
Ye their interface does provide a breath of fresh air but I would need to use it before judging its usefulness. I would love to have this as a dedicated PMP but probably not a DAP, again need to hear it or read about it to make any judgement..the best part for me has to be the price- ernieBob

Should I Get the Cowon D2 or D2+?
Well if it only costs $10-20 more (as it does here in AUS) why not go for the D2+? That way you don't need to worry about "hacking" updates/upgrades onto the unit when cowon releases them. And it comes in the all black finish- ernieBob

Ipod Echoing
Well, my reason was that when I don't plug in the headphones correctly, sometimes it produces strange results on the heapdhones, where the vocals seem distant and maybe that could be perceived as echo (I know, it is probably just me).- ernieBob

Ipod Echoing
Actually now that I think about it, I used to experience echoes a lot when my music was encoded at 128kbps or similar and I used any of my better headphones to listen to them. To the OP: What are your encoding settings? If the default is 128kbps, try using a higher setting (320kbps) and see...- ernieBob

Ipod Echoing
Yes, it is in fact one of my favourite songs by Tool I must admit that I noticed it a little but not enought to think of it as a problem (macbook>ms1) . Then again knowing Tool, the effect is probably a deliberate part of the song.- ernieBob

Itunes quick question
If I understand your situation correctly, the following steps will suffice: Esnure that your ipod is disconnected ebfore doing anything. 1) Erase your songs from itunes. It will ask you if you want to keep the files ensure that you say YES! 2) Move your songs to D: 3) Add songs from D...- ernieBob

will the next gen ipod touch have greater capacity?
@edart I hope not! That looks like a touch with a controller that covers the edges (these are already available) and a horizontal layout. 64GB sounds like a long shot considering the prices at the moment..a round touch is probably more likely..- ernieBob

Apple's New Shuffle Ipod sounds great
I have never been a fan of the original nano and this design is not going to convert me anytime soon. However, I am not going to bash it just because Apple made it and I own a clip. Let us not turn this into another "apple vs the rest" thread. Now, could the OP explain to me what an even...- ernieBob

Software for ripping CDs and managing music
Agree on using mp3tag with the others. Itunes is not bad but ver 8.1 is driving me crazy (both on win and mac). I prefer to use mediamonkey, winamp or foobar myself.- ernieBob

SQ wize the Lplayer vs. D2 vs. U2
Now, now, the touch SQ is actaully quite well rounded and the 5.5G wasn't half bad. 5.5G was rockboxable but not the touch.- ernieBob

Actually if size is a concern and portability is to be maintained, you can't go wrong with the Sansa clip (max. of 8GB storage but suports FLAC).- ernieBob

suggestions for a new portable source unit
The classic goes up to 120GB only and previously a 160GB model was also avilable (it is probably available as a refurbished product on the apple website). Note that it is possible to use FLAC directly on the 5.5G ipod through Rockbox but I don't think that the classic can be rockboxed...yet- ernieBob
