cliff's version: - I can't decide between the ES5 and JH13 Pro FreqPhase. - The type of sound I prefer is forward+warm. - The Grado RS1 has been my favorite headphones so looking something that has a similar sound Any advise?- sy0296

help choosing my first set of custom IME
Hi guys, I need some guidance choosing my first set of custom IME. I've had some experiences with IMEs in the past but I always went back to full size cans due to discomfort after long listening sessions. I currently own shure e500, UE triplefi 10, etymotic er4-s and use them...- sy0296

review: Focal Spirit One
so i've had these for a few days but i finally had a chance to listen to the Focal Spirit 1 for a little bit...awesome way to kick off my Sunday, yes sir! Initial impressions build/finish out-of-the-box impressions: solid, not too heavy, fairly compact, cables just long enough, fits...- sy0296

Musical Fidelity V-LINK USB SPDIF
2 questions: 1. my DAC only supports up to 48kHz/24bit (it will lock up on anything higher). Can someone verify that will not upsample everything to 96kHz? In other words, can it be adjusted in settings/properties? Also, I'd appreciate it if someone with with a Mac/OSX can verify. ...- sy0296

in love with Grado SR1i...what is comparable in a closed back?
my job requires me to travel between USA and Asia and sometime Europe about once a month. In the past 4 years, I've racked up over 500,000miles in the air and it's still counting. Add shuttles, taxi's, subways, trains, hotels/motels it's thousands of 'alone' hours I spend on the headphones...- sy0296

in love with Grado SR1i...what is comparable in a closed back?
yup, IME would work best and they actually have been my primary travel earphones for the past few years. i used to have a set of er4s which i used for a couple years until my cat chewed through the wires. instead of getting them re-cabled, I bought a set of shure e530pth which i didn't...- sy0296

in love with Grado SR1i...what is comparable in a closed back?
i know i will end up keeping the these RS1i, but I need a set I can use on public transportation/airplanes...probably going to end up with the beyerdynamics t5p because of the cans i've been auditioning, these sound best to me. that being said, they still can't touch the SR1i and are more...- sy0296

Really disappointed by the T50p, need burn in ?
i'm with the OP on the t50p. in the past week i've auditioned a few headphones side by side, and unfortunately the t50p is the worst sounding of the group (compared to denon d1100, ath-m50, t5p, e8, rs1i). it's not a fair comparison but i did expect a lot out of these phones. to me they...- sy0296

in love with Grado SR1i...what is comparable in a closed back?
i've had the luxury to demo a bunch of headphones in the past week or so, and I've absolutely fallen in with with the Grado SR1i. Is there anything that can compare to these Grado cans in a closed back? Anything with a similar sound signature?- sy0296

Upgrading from ATH-M50
seriously don't think you'll find something better than the m50 at that price range. i've spent the past few days critically listening to a list of cans ranging from $100~$1500. http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/538301/closed-can-comparison-100-to-1500 the cans are going through a...- sy0296

closed can comparison: $100 to $1500
I made a thread last night in the portables forum but got minimal responses. perhaps it's the way i worded the thread... http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/538145/best-over-ear-headphones-i-can-buy-to-use-with-a-iphone anyways, I want to buy a new set of headphones for a upcoming trip...- sy0296

best over-ear headphones i can buy to use with a iphone?
JH16 look good and reviews are great, but i'm not looking into getting another set of IME. my two top contenders right now are the beyerdynamics t5p and ultrasone edition 8. anything else i should consider?- sy0296

best over-ear headphones i can buy to use with a iphone?
previously i've owned a set of ety er4s as well as a set of shure e530pth with a imod and portable amp. a few years ago i started putting all my music on the iphone and found it too much of a hassle to carry the amp with me everywhere. a couple years ago i bought a set of the triplefi...- sy0296
