Hey guys,    So my Etymotic HF5s are starting to give up the ghost (the wire insulation is starting to split right next to the actual IEM housing on the left ear - it's taped up for now and still working, but it's probably only a matter of time) so I'm considering jumping over to Shure SE215...

I'd probably be using these for daily listening as well as some DJing. Maybe even music production work. Would the SE425s be okay for that?

How would you say that these two IEMs stack up against each other? I'm pretty happy with the Etys, though I sometimes wish there was a tiny bit more bass (though the bass is very controlled, which I like). I have a chance to pick up the Shures for around $200, so do you think they're worth it...

Huh. I didn't know I could get comply tips at B&H. I'm glad there's somewhere in town I can get these. I picked up the HF5s. It's funny - they don't sound all that different from the MC5s to me. I may return the HF5s, get another pair of MC5s and save $50.

In case anyone finds this thread and is having a similar problem, doing a system reset totally fixes this problem. Press and hold the menu button and the center button for like... 10 seconds or so, and your iPod will restart, and everything will be fine!!
