Recommend: Tube integrated amp w/ headphone jack and phono board! Sub $1k used
Just looking for options to research. I'd like a tube (although will consider SS) integrated amp with a headphone jack (for Grado 500 or Senn 650s) and a phono section so that I can discretely listen to my jazz LPs. Prefer not to spend more than $1,000 on a used piece of gear. Suggestions?- Minimauled

Stax Omega v. Omega II question
I got a fresh Omega system in late 2007 that I had to wait on while a US dealer waited for his resupply from Japan. I know the amp is the latest 007TII but now someone has told me that there is an Omega II (the headphones) and they are in black. However, I know people who have had what they...- Minimauled

Sony In Ear headphones SHOCK me!
Seriously, they shock me when I'm sweating while jogging. It's just the right side and only every 4 minutes or so but it's not pleasant. It's like the static electrical shock you get when you touch something metal. I threw away the box and receipt but it seems like someone at best buy (I...- Minimauled

Benchmark DAC-1 headphone mod - WOW!
Hadden, funny you should mention those two things because I was thinking how I would describe the benefits of the mod and better bass and dynamics were the exact aspects I was going to say so you'll probably be happy. My next step is to try the Ultrasone 9 out of the benchmark.- Minimauled

Benchmark DAC-1 headphone mod - WOW!
I sent my DAC-1 back to Steve Nugent at Empirical Audio to upgrade to the latest mods and figured while it was there I might as well add his new headphone mod as a back up for when I'm in between amps. I didn't even ask what the mod entailed! It was only $200 for me since I already had the other...- Minimauled

DAC-1 owners - question regarding XLR v. RCA
I got an email from Steve Nugent of Empirical Audio who modifies the Benchmark who said the RCAs can sound just as good as the XLRs and it's amp dependent. So don't go sell your SE amps. But as far as the Stax 007tII goes...I think xlr beats the rca jacks w/o a doubt.- Minimauled

Finally pulled the trigger on a DAC1...
I just posted a comment to this effect: I think you will get much better performance using the XLR jacks rather than the RCA jacks. If you don't have a balanced system, then you might still get better results using a XLR adapter on your RCAs and going out of the RCA jacks (although I haven't...- Minimauled

DAC-1 owners - question regarding XLR v. RCA
I was able to switch from using the RCA jacks to now using the XLR jacks and the difference is major. I have a Stax 007tII amp so I have the RCA interconnects and the XLR interconnects attached at the same time and can switch back and forth at the touch of a button. The RCA jacks drop in volume...- Minimauled

ATH-W5000. wow. wow. wow. wow.
I found the w5000 to be similar to the 650 with a more open Grado-type presentation. If it weren't for the fit that I didn't like, I would have kept the 5000s over the 650s. Very, very nice cans.- Minimauled

I've spent two days with these things and GOOD LORD! The oo7tII w/ the Omega II's are AMAZING. I can see into the music. I also have an NOS Sennheiser HE60 that may beat the Omega IIs (not sure yet) but good god, I'm an electrostatic FREAK! Screw dynamic cans! WoW! Wow, wow, wow!- Minimauled

W5000 Owners: Question
I bought a pair a month ago new and there was a loose connection causing an intermittent problem with one of the channels being out.
