May be you could replace the cable and since the strain reliefs are shorter, you can put the wire over the ear?   They are quite heavy 10 grams vs 8 grams (H3). Plus the cable themselves weight quite a bit. Personally I'm having great fit and the durable cable is welcomed too.

Not a hint of harshness or sibilant, only very well extended treble.   I can almost guarantee you that the FX850 sibilant is no where near that of the EX1000 since it is even less harsh than the MDR-7550. The 7750 as everybody know is very similar to the EX1000 with the treble rolled off.  ...

For the lazy:   It seems that a thermosetting resin were used to moisture proof and help retain the diaphragm's shape in various condition. I'm almost certain the same was done to the FX850, don't see why they wouldn't use it.
